One injector not working

Hi Gang,
New to the site and I have a few questions.
A little history first. I picked up a 89 RS camaro from a buddy for $500. 305, TBI, 700R4. All original with only diver side door damage. Hasn't been run in 4 years, until this afternoon. I had it running last week but one of the injectors were dumping fuel so I ordered new ones. Installed them and now the driver side injector does not flow fuel. I switched the plugs and the injector itself works. Any ideas why one will work and not the other? I did do a search but didn't find anything specific to this issue.
Second question, I did drive the car around the block just to test the brakes more than anything. It seemed as though the car was stuck in high gear, but it did shift to all gears. The shifts were "hard" shifts. The first thing I thought was TV cable but that seems ok. Any other ideas? It seemed VERY sluggish even for only one injector firing.

Thanks in advance for your help, an I am happy to be part of your community.

Jon

Re: One injector not working

Buy your self a noid light for tbi and plug it in to see if the light flickers. I had a buddy whom had a similar problem but his vats (anit theft) was the culprit. My buddy removed the injectors and did not seat them properly so fuel was leaking from one side. When he would start the car up the leaking fuel was enough to keep the car running but it had no power and only the improperly seated injector was squirting fuel. Check that your key has a chip within and that it functions properly. If its faulty the engine will crank, the fuel pump will work, spark will also work, but the injectors will not due to a malfunctioning vats Aka vehicle anti theft.

Re: One injector not working

Thanks for the advice. I know the vats is ok. I have it bypassed.

Update: I went out and double checked the inj fuses. Both were good. Started car Canberra it ran GREAT. Both injectors firing.took it around the block and was running awesome until I got about a mile away and it started running bad again. Limped home and found only the passenger side injector working. Arrg .

Does anyone know if limp home mode or fail soft mode turn off an injector? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: One injector not working

probably have a bad connection somewhere(check the fit of the plug atop the injector and the fuse panel)When you notice only one injector firing, keep engine running and move the injector plugs and bump fuse panel to see if dead injector resumes firing.A bad ECM could cause the problem too-wiggle it's plugs and bump it too.If you have a voltmeter or test light, check that both injectors are getting battery voltage with ignition on-ECM grounds the negative side of the injectors to fire them.

Re: One injector not working

Update: I rechrcked the fuses and started the car. The dead injector stared firing again. So I think I have the culprit isolated. Will check the back of the fuse block and make sure all connections are tight. Thanks for your help.
