Fluttering oil pressure...????
Right around 1600-1700 rpm on the highway (~60 mph) my oil pressure starts fluttering. It stays high enuf at 50 psi but the autometer gauge starts to flutter. It only does this while driving. I can't get it do do this in park or if I brake torque it.
Clue me in...

Is your Autometer gauge electric or mechanical? My car did something like that with the stock factory gauge, it would have about 40 PSI at idle and slowly increase to about 50 at 1500 RPM, then as RPM went up it would start bouncing wildly and by 3000 RPM it would peg out, it turned out to be the oil pressure sending unit by the oil filter was bad.

It's an electric gauge. The sender is right by the header tube...almost touching. BUT I have it wrapped in some heat reflective shielding if that makes any difference.
Maybe the sender got nuked by the heat?

i don't see it being the sender. i'm going with the loose wire. if it was the sender, it should do it when in park, or brake torqued. i think it may be the wire bouncing around because it's loose.
