Ok, I am changing from TPI to carb. I will still be running the stock L98 cam. Do I have to get a special gear for the non-computer controled dist to go with the stock roller cam?

Is it just a standard gear on the factory dist on not???????

Thanks, I had seen the bronze gears for the roller cam setup, but It is just for after market or certain roller cams. Is that right?

Glad to hear I dont have to change it for just the stock cam. What about something like the comp xe282hr cam?

The factory used what they call a "melonized" gear on distributors intended for factory roller cams. It has a surface treatment that non-roller cam distributor gears don't get. But, the melonized gear will work with non-roller cams as well.

Aftermarket roller cams in days of yore were made from billet stock. It was hard, and would wear out "regular" distributor gears. So, bronze was used.

thanks for the replys guys. I will be changing to the comp xe282hr or maybe larger cam later on. I found out from comp that the stock gear on the non-computer controled dist will be fine also.
