Head porting question (601 castings)

Car: 01 Z28 and 89 Iroc
Engine: ls1 fti 3600,S60 w/3:73 gears
Transmission: A4

Head porting question (601 castings)
I bought these 305 heads that have already been opened up with larger valves with a 3 angle valve job and a bowl blend. The runners are still unported and still as cast. I have been reading up on heads and bought a book on it. I have followed a few posts here on the subject.
One thing they always say is to have the valve seats machined after doing the porting. Since I already have the larger valves and they hardly have any miles on them, can I skip taking them to the machine shop for any reason?
I know I will have to be extra careful around the seats. Depending on how much they took out I might do some work around the valve guides. Thanks in advance for any advice.
I will start on this hopefully next week after the 305 comes out for the 350 that's going in.

They only tell you to have the seats cut after the porting because most people port their stock heads while the engine's being rebuilt.
They say to wait because if you do nick the valve seats (and you will
), it'll be fixed when you have the seats cut. If you have them cut first, then nick one of them, you get to pay to have that seat(s) cut AGAIN.

Maybe for now, I'll avoid that area. Hopefully the bowl blend they did was enough. I bought the book by Dan Vizard.

Hard to say how long that die grinder will last or how good of a job it will do. You'll probably need more abrasives to complete the job properly.

At that price...you might need 2 or 3...just remember...you get what you pay for.
Find an old valve to put in while you are working the bowel area..this will help protect the seats...I hope, Mine have 0 miles on the valve job..and I hope not to mess them up..
