I was thinking of hooking my fan up to a toggle switch so i can control it myself to try and keep my car cooler in heavy traffic on those scorching hot days. I was wondering has anyone else done so and does it work well, or is it just a pain in the *** having to switch it on and off all the time. Im thinking of doing so because the heat sensor or switch on the side of my engine block got broken due to a hedder installation which is very dangerous to my cars health!!!!

Red,you can either replace your broken fan switch with one that will turn your fan on at a lower temp or if you want to control it yourself you can run a wire from the ac fan switch,providing that you have ac that is.The switch in question is located on the high pressure line close to the accumulater(the silver canister shaped thing near your firewall).I don't remember the color of wire but take the connector off the switch.With the ign switch in the on position you can take a piece of wire and run it to a good ground and find witch wire will cause the fan to run.once you find the hot wire then splice a wire onto the hot wire and run it into the interior of your car and hook it to a switch .Then run another wire from you switch to a good ground.Using the wire from the ac fan switch allows you to run the fan any time the ign is on.If you forget to turn it off and shut the engine off it will also shut the fan off too.

You don't need to do anything with an a/c fan switch. The fan relay is on the firewall drivers side with the a/c relay.
There are three relays together at that location. If you aren't sure which one is the fan relay, go to an auto parts store and ask to see a fan relay for a third gen F-body. The three relays are different from each other, so once you know what it looks like, you can find it easily. The green wire coming off of the fan relay plug goes to
the fan switch or the ecm, I'm not sure which. Anyway, if you ground that wire the fan will be on anytime the ignition is switch on. If you use a "suitcase" connector to run the extra ground in parrallel with the existing green wire, and run the wire to a switch in your cars interior, the out of the switch to a ground,
you can turn on the fan anytime you want by flipping the switch. If you leave the switch off, the fan will operate normally.

What Russ_SoCal said. The actual wire color in question is grn/white coming off fan relay on driver's side firewall on my 1991 RS.
Splice into the grn/white wire and run that wire to a toggle switch. then, run a wire to ground off the other terminal on the toggle switch. i also run a 10 amp inline fuse.
Make sure you get the right relay/wire because on my 1991 the fuel pump relay is right next to the fan relay and both have 3-4 wires the same color.

hehe, I just want to emphasize it's the one CLOSEST to the fender, like Blade said. Apparently I'm not the only one who accidentally engaged the fuel pump priming relay

i got one better the wire you said broke try grounding it if so then run awire off of it to a toggle switch inside the car hook another wire to the other side of the toggle to ground and bingo.

I did this 1 week ago. I love the fact that I can turn my fans on whenever I only use it at the track, because besides that, my car never goes over 180*

Insted of using ice at the track, I now use my fans, I LOVE IT!
