DAMN DAMN DAMN!!! I knew this would happen. I was working on my Super Ram and a bolt went down the runner. I didn't see it but I heard it, and there's a little bit of teflon from the bolt in the top of the runner. What should I do?? I have a magnet but it's not powerful at all (a refrigerator door magnet). I just hope it didn't go all the way to the head. I looked down there with a mirror and I might see something but it's hard to tell. What should I do? I really don't feel like taking apart my whole intake and possibly heads. btw, the engine is at #1 cylinder firing (was installing distributor) and the bolt went into #5 cylinder.

You could try using one of those telescopic magnets from an auto parts store. That little thing has helped me out with problems like this countless times. Just be careful not to snap it in the runner.

Another trick is to take the magnet off the holder they sell at the auto parts place, thread or clamp it in place onto a piece of flexible rubber hose, and snake it down the runner, it will follow its contours and u can pull it up... pls post a follow up, K?

DAMN, looks like my intake manifold bolts are made out of some wierd metal, because I tried one on my magnet and it doesn't stick at all. I took the runners off and the manifold is empty, which means the bolt went into the head ((( DAMN To make things worse, I looked at the #5 cylinder and the intake valve is open, so it could have gone into the cylinder. At least I have my parent's car to drive to work, so I can mess around with this..

Could you maybe try to pull it out through the spark plug hole?

Ummm, intake bolts are pretty big. I seriously doubt it worked it's way around the valve into the cylinder. Guess you'll find out when you pull the intake.

It's probably sitting in the intake port of the head.

I took the intake manifold off and it was sitting right there. Whew.

Commonly called "stainless" steel, more correctly corrosion resistant steel or CRES. Sometimes the threads will be magnetic if cold rolled, but typically not enough to actually lift the bolt with a magnet.

Not so weird, really...
