why does my car make a loud noise when i hit the gas
had a bent axle a few months ago and replaced the bent axle with new one, put on new outer bearings. i put in the wrong type of fluids in the axle. i knew what kind to get but went with the autozone guys suggestion.
everything held up really well except for today after about a week of short drives and todays 25 minutes on the highway i noticed a low hum for the first time. about half way home after it was sitting all day there was this wicked loud humming noise when i hit the gas. as the car picked up rpms in the gear, it would get louder. i then take off the gas and shift no noise until i hit the gas again. It only produces this noise under acceleration and goes away when the car is coasting with no throttle or with throttle and the clutch pushed in.
I think the manual transmission fluid that i had in there finally broke down. i got it home and the axle was f$%^ing hot. when i drained the fluid it was steaming and after an hour to get the right gear oil it was still hot and the rear end was hot. So this thing heated up a real lot. I put the fluid in and no problems at all except for the really loud noise when im pressing the throttle in gear. If I hold down the gas in neutral nothing happens just exhaust noise.
Did the heat damage the gears or the bearings? Should I just grease the area around the drive shaft etc.? Any help is appreciated.

Re: rookie mistakes
What did you take apart and what bearings did you replace? What oil did you use the first time? Need more info.

Re: rookie mistakes
put on a new right rear outer wheel bearing when i replaced the bent axle and put in syncromesh manual transmission fluid on last saturday. put in subframe connectors the next day. today i put 80w-90 bearing oil after i got the old stuff out and it made everything run normal except for the constant noise when in gear with a foot on the gas.
