There was a guy on ebay that was selling them pretty cheap. He had a bunch of them. They flow 750cfm - the same as a fully modified stock MAF.

Do a search. You'll find the address for a place in buffalo. That's where most of us bought them. They're cheap, and they shipped it right away. I had mine within a couple days.

Not unless your stock one is malfunctioning. That's the only reason to replace it. The Wells flows more air than stock, but the computer is only capable of recognizing a specific airflow level regardless of how much the sensor itself can flow.

Does the ECM recognize this MAF from the stock Bosch? Is it a direct plug in and go?

Yes. It's not really a "performance upgrade" per se. It's simply a better designed replacement part. It's supposed to have a built in circuit that emulates a burn-off cycle, so that you don't get an error code for the burn-off (the Wells sensor doesn't go through a burn-off).

my other idea was just swaping over to MAP, but only if theres a performance benefit from it. stock heads and cam.

No performance gain switching to MAP.

That's basically like pouring your shotglass drink into a bigger glass. It'll hold more, but you've still got the same amount of drink.
