The stock pump is rated at 40gph (150lph), I presume at 45+PSI. The shutoff pressure is above 65PSI so it should supply enough pressure for the flow rate at what its rated at.

you can upgrade to a hotwire kit from racetronix and push more voltage at that pump and get more fuel out of it. But it may shorten the life of it.

Re: How much HP can a 350 TPI Fuel Pump support?

worst thing u can do is push it,best thing to do is change. holley electric blue pump is top of the line we run this same one n a 555 supercharged with nos and it dumps fuel easliy.they are no more than 200 bucks but worth it,the stock fuel pump preety much max's out where it is now,it can handle more but u dnt wonna have it go out at the wrong time if its pushed to hard.i just chmaged mine because i was on my 3rd one in 6 months but i also push my camaro lke theres no tommorow

Re: How much HP can a 350 TPI Fuel Pump support?

40 gal/hr translates to about 248#/hr fuel flow rate. Therefore,

engine Hp = (Fuel flow rate) * DC / BSFC = 248 * 100% / 0.5 = 496 Hp

This 496 Hp is achieve with absolute maxed out injectors. Realistically, 450 Hp.

flywheel. you'll be closer to 380-390 whp i'd say. Do have a decent cam/heads setup so it may touch 400

Re: How much HP can a 350 TPI Fuel Pump support?

Doc, Will fuel pressure effect your calculations? I used to run 32 lb injectors at 45 lbs fuel pressure on a ZZ383 making about 390 rwhp. The stock fuel pump wouldn't keep up during the dyno tuning so I went to Walbro's 255 lph fuel pump. Now I have 42 lb injectors at 40 lbs fuel pressure. Will the stock fuel pump keep up at the lower fuel pressure? I'm asking beacause the Walbro high flow pump seems to cavitate on very hot days at part throttle if I'm driving for a long time. My theory is the high flow fuel pump flows so much fuel back to tank right at the fuel pump at low loads, it is heating the fuel pump or causing turbulance around it. The stock pump will return less and may fix this problem.

i had to also put in a 255lph fuel pump. The stock one would not flow enough

Re: How much HP can a 350 TPI Fuel Pump support?

Thanks. Sounds like I need to stay with the high flow fuel pump. I think everybody is using the Walbro and they seem to make about the best high flow pump for our cars.
