Throttle body air filter?

I was going to try a conical air filter right at the TB opening but the opening is oval and the filter opening is round. Do they make an adaptor or special filters or am I asking a stupid question. I would like to try it before going through the trouble of making duct work for outside air.
It's a '92 Z28 305 TPI with the air flow sensor at the back of the plenum.

Re: Throttle body air filter?

Got the KN 5000 under the Xmas tree. Just put it on. I like this, I can put the stock parts in a box in case I want to put it back to stock. Looks cool and, at least in the 30 degree weather here, it seems to help throttle response.

Re: Throttle body air filter?

Those filters were intended for TPI retrofit applications. As soon as the radiator heats up, you'll actually lose power.

Yeah, I am going to add ducting to the stock CAI in the Spring. Great in the cold weather right now though and it looks cool for "show and tell".
