corvette 700r4????
Hey guys, i've already done a search and found nothing. I am swapping a 89 corvette 700r4 into my 87 iroc. everything is mounting up fine except one thing, the transmission cross member. Has anyone had this problem or done this swap and if so any pointers on what to do. Any help would be appriciated.

The factory fitted trans, in a c4 vette, does not have the mounting holes for a trans mount. It does not even have the boos in the case. Therefore you cannot drill and tap it. To my knowledge, it is not possible to bolt into a third gen.

Well i guess i'll have to think something up on my own because everything bolts up just perfectly except that cross memeber, i just swapped a thirdgen tailhousing onto it and it went right in.

The output shaft is also 3/4 of an inch shorter. You may develop a vibration in the driveshaft.

It may be fine. If not, the only way to fix the output shaft is to change it. This involves complete dissassembly of the trans to do it.

Re: corvette 700r4????
I had a vette 700r4 in my z28 for a while. I did notice the tail shaft was shorter but I never had any vibration problems. To mount it I made a steel "L" bracket that bolted to the bottom two tailshaft housing bolts and I bolted the mount on the bottom of that bracket. Do you kinda get what I am saying?
