Flywheel dust cover?

Did our cars with the 700R4 have one? Mine DOESN'T. Is this not good?

They came with a plastic cover that went over the torque convertor and flexplate

Plastic? mines metal ? (or the one i took off to replace the 700r4? )

Mine was also made of metal..

John, I'd imagine the chances of dirt & crap getting into those seals (trans pump seal and rear engine seal) is increased without the cover. I'm sure a junkyard would charge you $5 for one...

sorry to bring back a dead thread, but does anyone know what the starter opening width is for a 700r4 dust cover? I bought a chromed one off ebay for like 30 bucks but I cant seem to get it to fit, maby i just need more persuation.

No, but I got one from summit for the same cost, and it didnt fit well at all. I think I ended up only using half the bolts.

I would be ok with useing only half the bolts, I just couldn't fit it around the starter moter to get the top bolts started.
