Ordered the McLeod adjustable master cylinder and slave cylinder and just got them bolted up and lines connected but now I'm running into a problem connecting the master cylinder rod to the clutch pedal.

Anyone installed one of these before and come up with an easy solution? The rod end supplied is too small of a diameter for the pin on the clutch pedal. Doesn't seem like there is a rod end with the right combination of threads/diameter available.

Do I need to pull the clutch pedal, remove the original pin, and install a bolt?

3/8-24 RH thread with a 7/16 bore. Apparently nothing like that is made. Going to just go ahead and pull the pedals tomorrow and drill out the stock pin.

Was searching by name and found this thread, wanted to post an update.

Never could figure out why the McLeod-supplied ball end wouldn't fit on the stock pedal. I ended up cutting the end of the master cylinder rod off that I took out of the car with the factory-style plastic clip on it. Cut down the McLeod pushrod, threaded the end that I cut off the other cylinder, and used a turnbuckle-type hex adjuster to connect the two so that I could still adjust the length of throw. Took some fiddling to get it adjusted properly but it finally solved my over-stroke issues with the clutch.

I had bought my about 1 1/2 years ago, but was waiting to install it when I was doing the motor change. I am having the same problem, pin on petal is larger than the McLeod adjustable rod. I contacted McLeod, they just asked for the size of the pin on the petal. I will post the response when they get back to me

Here is the response I got back from McLeod

I looked at our rod ends and they have a .375" hole which is what we use for the 4th gen pedal assembly. So the options that we have come up with are the following.

1. modify the pin down to .375"

2. get a 7/16 rod end and heli coil the threads for the rod down to 3/8-24.

3. Clamp the rod end in a mill and with a titanium drill bit, drill out to 7/16"

4. find a 4th gen pedal assembly and swap pedals.

I think the reason we went the route we did was because there wasn't a manufacture that made a different eyelet hole to the rod hole. They always seem to be the same size for both holes.

I guess all these options are at my cost, so unless you want to do what they advise, than this master cylinder is not for us third gen people

Mcleod stood by this as the great company they are, I sent in my new MC and the rod from my old MC and made it adjustable with my old rod end

i think i am lost. i used a stock 4th gen master in my 3rd gen with 3rd gen pedals. i have had no problem. so i don't see how the mcloud one mad for 4th gen pedals wont fit? i will be doing this swap this weekend ill post and let you know how it goes. it just doesnt seem right. it even says 86-97 camaro on the box.

im actually more concerned with the lines fitting. the one provided seems to short to make it to the slave and the stock line is held in with a roll pin the one in the box hooks up to the master and slave via a threaded end. guess we will see.

You need to use an adapter for the new line that uses the roll pin attachement at one end and threaded at the other. You maybe lucky, I have an 86, the pin on the clutch petal is bigger and does not use a spring clip to hold clutch MC rod in place.
I send mine original MC clutch rod back to McLeod and they modified it to fit
