12 bolt

Im looking to buy a new 12 bolt or 9 inch but had few questions hopefully someone can answer.

The strange only accept 97-02 brakes and want to no if i can just by the calipers and all from pepboys or something and slam em on my 84.

Also the rear is a inch wider and wanted to no will my rims and tires still fit or will they stick out and hit the wheel wells. They 15x8 with 4 inch backspace

Any info on the swap will be helpful in all ways

Re: 12 bolt

You can buy the rotors/pad/calipers from a parts store, but you'll be missing the backing plates and parking brake drum. I bought mine from this guy, and everything worked out well:

Offer him around $150, that's what I did. You'll still need to come up with your own parking brake cable solution. Here's what I was able to do with the LS style cables and our stock cables.:

The extra inch won't make much difference and you probably won't notice.

Re: 12 bolt

i wasnt really worried about the ebrake system. Is it ok to leave it unhooked or does it have to be. It hasnt been hooked up on my 7.5 in three years

Re: 12 bolt

It's not an e-brake, it's a parking brake and it should be used every time you park regardless of your transmission.
