The infamous "rear end clunk"...
I get a slight clunking noise from my rear when I come to a stop or moving <5 mph. I can feel it a tad bit when it happens in the parking lot, it's definitely not the tranny mount, the sound comes from too far back in the driveline. It's very intermittent, and usually only does it after I drive say 10 miles or so. I also get a slight whine from back there if I'm already moving and only give it enough gas to maintain speed although I just chalk that up to driveline noise since it hasn't gotten worse in the 4 months I owned the car and it's barely audible. What should I be poking around for under there? End links? driveshaft movement? I know the torque arm mount has a *slight* tear in it, maybe that's the culprit? Just looking for a sounding board so I don't jump in blind.

My car does the same. I get it every time I go through a fast food drive through. I'd like to know the answer to this too.

Maybe take a look at that rear universal joint, would be a good place to start.

I'll give it a look when it stops raining. I'm just looking for play between it and the driveshaft, correct? I've also noticed I get a pretty decent jolt back there if I goose the throttle and let off really fast in first gear or if it shifts into 2nd while I'm moving slowly. That also is coming from the same area, nowhere near the tranny mount. Could a trashed torque arm bushing be the cause?

Considering the car is over 20 years old it could be a ton of things.
U joint
Worn control arm bushings
Worn Torque arm bushing
Broken sway bar
Worn Ring and pinion
Broke Transmission mount
