Can I block the accumulator in my 700-R4 to make it shift harder?

Can I block the accumulator in my 700-R4 to make it shift harder?
I was wondering if you could do that like you could in the older MOPAR 904's and 727's and the older GM trans's too. Also, is there any way to let it wind out as far as you want in first without buying a $140 shift kit from trans-go?

The TCI shift improver kits come with two allen-head pipe plugs, one for the 1-2 accumulator passage and one for the 3-4 (?) passage. These block the flow of fluid to the two accumulator pistons completely to eliminate the damping effect the pistons and springs have on system fluid pressure.
Not that I recommend doing this...just pointing out it's been done. TransFixLeo is probably having a heart attack reading about this butchery. :-)

DO NOT under any circumstances block the 2nd accumulator. Blocking 4th is ok. Second gear needs accumulation to keep the transmission alive. One way to get firmer shifts, you can install a stiffer spring in the second accumulator and put in the Corvette servo and larger boost valves. Another is to install the Trans-Go Performance Shift kit along with the above parts, this will give you the fixes for the TV system along with performance type shifts.

I'll do my best to avoid sarchasm here. So you aren't interested in fixing the tranny, just making it shift hard? AND you are willing to save $140 and run the risk of spending ten times that when it lets go? Have I got it right?
If you answered yes to both of those then just drop the pan and then drop the three bolt cover in the corner and you will find a spring in there. Remove it. Get some washers or whatever and stack them until you are sure that it won't allow the piston to move but still get the cover flush. Enjoy!
If you have reconsidered this plan then just order the TransGo Reprogramming Kit and both FIX and IMPROVE your tranny.

What is everyone talking about? There is nothing wrong with my trans. IT DOSENT NEED TO BE FIXED!!!! Anyway, I just asked a simple question. The only reason I asked is because you CAN block the accumulator on older transmissions. Sorry for asking

Yes, the 700R4 problems have to be addressed to make this trans work right! The good old days of the TF727, where the transmission would still work ok, With the (Trans-Go TF2) you could modify it to hold any gear to any rpm! If you are wanting 700R4 to do the same thing, then the Trans-Go 700-2-3 & "no other" will do what you want. Besides, it will fix the TV system problem that has been present from the beginning. Blocking the accumulator is not wise in most cases (even in the TF727's). I hope this helps.
