what would you say this engines worth?, its my step dads uncle who buys junk cars and scraps them and he remembered i needed an engine, hes getting my old engine after the swap so he could still junk it and he told me to just tell him a price i thinks right, but i dont wanna offer too low, i was thinking $100. also do i need anything to do this swap besides my intake, and fuel system, sensors so what else/

Idk without knowing the condition and mileage of the engine or how complete it is, but I wouldn't go over $300 for a 2.8 for sure, esp since I got a complete 3.4 for $250, even got the tq converter. So probably $100-300.

Yeah I wouldn't go over 200 either for a 2.8 tbh, I would only go $300 if I were having trouble finding a larger drop in displacement for less, ie. a 3.1 or 3.4, or if I didn't care about power much(but I do, hence the 3.4,lol)
Might I ask whats wrong with the engine you have?

I really hate my browser it deletes my posts!
.. ok in a nutshell:
1) how do you ADD/Change injectors on a Carb'd engine?
2) What ALL S-10 2.8 OR 3.4L (years? Cars?) is needed for this?
3) HOW DO YOU DO IT?
Ok not threadjacking as i said in my post my browser ate.. but yes, curious. Thanks!

Basically just pull your engine, swap in the other engine as a shortblock, ie. block, cam, in this case heads(not the normal definition of shortblock) lifters, timing cover, WP, and just use your original intake manifolds with fuel rail+injectors, also the MPFI heads have ever so slightly larger valves, so if you care about performance and are replacing the HGs anyways(personally I would) then you can also use your original heads.

And is this the same as putting on a 3.1 or 3.4 head?

84 what he is doing is an engine swap for the sake of replacement, entirely different scenario than swapping one for power, if you are looking for ways to get more power, read my sticky at the top of the v6 section.

Good thing the engine is out of a late model S10... I was thinking it was an early pre-85 engine when I saw the heading, which would make the swap more trouble than it's worth.
The 93 is NOT carbed, it's TBI (same intake but a fuel injection carb instead of an old-school E2SE carb). You do NOT need to swap cylinder heads as they are the same (any RWD head after 85 to 95.5 is the same along with the TBI Lumina and similar vans). Everything above the intake swaps over nice. May need to swap over the exhaust manifolds, however, in case they aren't the same. And, of course, all of the accessories and brackets if they are different. Almost forgot that the only other thing you will want is a water pump... Front covers are the same on all RWD engines as well.
The engine you have is good for one thing... Scrap. And it's not worth much at that, either.

if hes using his old acc. he doesnt want the new water pump as the new water pump will be rev. flow... he could use the acc. off the S10 and have serp setup then

I don't recall saying he wanted a water pump for the S10 engine, just that he's going to want a new one period... Never know how long the pump has sat dry on the engine and how good the seals and such inside are...

Re: taking a carbed 2.8 and putting fuel injected stuff on it?
IIRC, the truck engine may have a cam designed around torque and not power... Other than that, they're the same...
Get a new WP for the 86 engine as you CANNOT use the S10 pump on the V-belt accessories, unless you want to swap the alternator and power steering pump pullies to use the S10 accessory brackets. And even then you'll need to do something about the A/C compressor if you have one as the pulley on there is difficult at best to change and requires special tools. The reason this is because the 2 water pumps flow in reverse of each other, and if you spin the reverse-flow serpentine pump on a V-belt engine, you're "new" engine won't last long as it will overheat like crazy due to no coolant flow.

And, while the engine is out and what not, I'd put a new timing chain set on as you can't possibly know how old it is unless he's told you so...

Well, ask if he's done the timing chain recently, or ever... If he hasn't, if I were you, I'd rather do some preventative maintenance now rather than having to do it if/when it breaks AND pay the tow truck . Oh, and a full gasket set, if he hasn't done that either, might be good... Especially the rear main seal and oil pan gaskets.
