yeah but I could put a 3000-7000 rpm cam in my 305. doesnt mean the breathing ability of the heads/intake will match that however...
what i meant was, like TPI (or unlike..) is that manifold somhow "tuned" for a specific RPM range? you know, single planes good for high, dual planes good for street, tunnel rams good for really high, tpi good for torque...
whats that manifolds "sweet spot" .. they all have one. |

Car: 86 Trans Am, 88 Formula Engine: 95LT4, 305TPI Transmission: T56, T5 | I don't know. This LT4 intake is going on top of my LT4 heads which goes onto top of my LT1 that has the LT4 hot cam in it.
It should have max torque around 2500 and max HP around 6K+. |

| Hi B4CTOM1,
I have enjoyed reading your posts over the last year or so. Nice to be in your company now. ProCharger Club!!!
Actually Dorian at ProCharger volunteered to send me this piece to help prevent damage to the radiator hose in the event of a belt failure.
So as an experienced ProCharger user. The sound....lots of vibration. Bearing noise, very high piched whistle. Is this right???
Want to make sure everything is correct.
Sounds like music to me. Very sweet and powerful.
Still on jack stands so I have not got into boost yet.

MyPontiac | oh yeah all the noise, they make a racket dont they? :-) but all blowers do even roots and screw ones do. its in the gears that the units have inside. you will note a chugging and chunking kinda noise at idle too as your ECM makes mixture changesadjustments at idle. it causes an imbalance of the firing impulses. that combined with the small amount of backlash between the drive and driven gears in the gear cases causes the chuggng or chunking sound. this is usually only noteable in steady state (no load) or idle. the whine is a separate and beautiful sound it is purely the mesh of the gears. Vortechs are real load and the roots are the king of whine. Vortech has tried to reduce this with a line of "quiet" blowers. they cut the gear with a more helical design and well, it still whines like a banshee. the king of quiet is the powerdyne. powerdynes use a belt in the "gearcase?" instead of gears (exept the newest model) and they offer truely quiet boost. unfortunately the quiet is at the cost of power and boost (belts cant step up ratio in the same area of space in the gearcase as gears can. congratulations on your purchase. |
