No Problem.

Tell Alvin I said Hi!!!

He promisses to get the prom just right to your satisfaction. Don't see that much anymore.

I am going to collect data this weekend using a trial run of TTS software. I will then send it to Alvin for him to upgrade the program. He will then forward the program to me to burn into my chip using Pocket Programmer.

Damn technology is great!!!!

I went all out with the TA today and recorded data using TTS software.

First time going all out WOT actually!

Unbelievable power. Willie once told me to bring a change of underwear when I first tried the boost!!! Ha!

I sent the data to my Prom programmer who will make adjustments as necessary.

Hey Willie, you still followin this post. Have not heard from you in months.

Oh well. I'll have to have all the fun here without you!!!! :lala: :lala: :lala:

I'm interested in how this is progressing. I have a question though. Will this install work on a stock setting camaro? My battery is on the passenger side, and the cannister is the the middle on the drivers side. Will I need to relocate anything before I can get the twin intercoolers to work?

Iroc Z,

The kit comes with a bracket to relocate the battery.

Not sure about the vacuum canistor. Mine was already relocated.

These items are actually minor compared to the rest of the install.

Pretty much a PITA huh? Well, I still like procharger a lot better than most companies out there.

If you were to start on a stock car, hypothetical, how long would the total install take in hours? Just a wild guess will do, I want to plan the time off work that I will need to install everything and get it running. Plus a little extra to rest on

Lets see..........

I started the install about 4 months ago and am in the tuning stage now.

I took off 2 weeks during Christmas and got the bulk of it done at that time.

I had done a few other little weekend things prior to that.

It is a fun project, but don't be affraid to work hard and be creative!

Yea, that would help.

I have another to drive when the supercharged car is down.

My adjustable fuel pressure regulator just died so it will be down for a few days for that repair.

Always something with older modified TA's!!!

Good luck.

What size intercoolers does the "kit" use? I would like to do something similar with my car.

I am also debating putting on a 91-92 nose and putting them behind where the turn signal/fog lights go.

some questions for you all?
1-why use rubber hose? would not pvc, stainless tubing, or somethinf else work better?
2-does installing colers so close to the front end cause any clearance problems? we all remember how the lower spoliers rub on our z and ta's?
3- looked for willies post on tenicious web site and could not find it?
and just a comment..
checked willies info, and more pics on z web site, and i am totally impressed on his pics, attention to detail, and plan of attack . so willies here to you dude!:hail: :hail: :hail: :hail:

Why not use rubber???? I wouldn't want to try fitting something rigid through the entire system.

I wouldn't go looking for driving it off road, but if it can clear the front bumper, it will clear the intercoolers. You can see in photos above.

Hi all, I have a '89 bird with a P1SC two core IC. I need more air flow to cool the motor, on hot days my temp goes to 220. Anyway I was wondering if this 2 piece IC will work on a 1989 bird. My IC blocks alot of air flow going to the radiator. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

pvc works but it is a temporary solution at best. The standard hardware store stuff is schedule 40, thick stuff, it does make for some clearance issues. Also it is not stable enough for underhood temps long term. The pipe I used is starting to deform in places. One piece on the blower intake side had to be replaced with a 90deg rubber hose, it works but I lose about 4lbs boost over the old setup untill I get a proper piece made up.

Just an update to this post.

I have added an alky injection system to help eliminate any predetonation.

Willie swares by this in the Arizona heat and my climate is not much better in Louisiana.

Once the kit is tuned I will be upgrading to the 15 # pulley.

Here is a photo of the alky controler.

Will update with some dyno numbers once I get the new pulley installed.

Its been going just fine with my original set up.

I tried running the 15# pulley, but had problems with cold start up.

I had terrible popping through the intake and blower.

I went back to the original pulley and all is fine.

The car is still very fast and fun to drive.

I recommend this set up for anyone interested in a supercharger.

im looking to do a similar set up for a twin turbo system and was wondering how much air do those intercoolers flow each? how much power can they support? im looking for 800 RWHP which would equate to around 1000 FWHP.

Hey Sean I just sent you and email. I'm interested in seeing your setup personally, if you don't mind. I know my car is a Z28 but seeing is believing. I understand my setup would be more like Willie's. But I'd like to see exactly what I'd be getting into as far labor goes. I have another mode of transportation so My Z28 could sit up for a while to complete the install in a timely matter. I take off work for the winter so I'll have time to do plenty of MODs. I've ordered numerous parts from Spohn, Lon (TDS) and a few little hard to find stuff off eBay, so I plan to totally finish my car by spring. Your install looks awesome. Great Job!!!

Mypontiac what do you have the smc kit pump speed set at , and is it the progressive kit?

Popping through the intake usually indicates a lean condition. It's crazy for me to see you running only 23# injectors. What is your vacuum line off at idle fuel pressure? It is boost referenced AFPR right. I'll bet the injectors have a duty cycle of 95% if not more.

It is the progressive kit.

I have it set about 4/5 to max position.

Stock FPR. The AFPR kept blowing??? So I went back to stock.

Yes, I figured that it was a lean condition due to the added air flow even at idle with the bypass active.

There is still a noticable difference in idle with the blower active vs. not active.

I have not persued determining the duty cycle of the injectors. I used the flow rate recommended by Willie. I have a air/fuel ratio gauge and monitored it during the programming of my custom chip.

Everything is fine with the pulley that was developed with this chip.

As you know, I tried using a smaller pulley and things were not happy.

I have made myself stay content and the car runs perfect.

Hope this helps.

A good apfr sounds like what you need to lean it out on the bottom end and give you a smooth idle.

One thing that sucks about 3rd gens is tuning it is so expensive for someone else to do it.

Have not made it to the track, although I am anxious to do so. Since I have a convertible, once I run I expect to be told that I need a roll cage.

I have went through much effort to get the stock regulator put back in place after blowing at least 3 AFPR. The diaphrams would fail with the ATI fuel system that increases pressure during boost.

I am just enjoying the car as is for now.

The buick (gn) afpr uses a boost reference where as the fuel pressure starts at lets say 45 and increases as 1 psi of boost is introduced 1 psi of fuel pressure is increased. So I run 20 psi of boost with a base of 45psi(vac line off)=65 psi at wot at max boost.

All I'm trying to state is that if ati can't make a good afpr, somebody does and trust me it's worth it.

Yes. I also have a 89 TTA and the AFPR that are available are much better than what you can get for the 91 TA. I went through 2 Holleys and one other brand. All failed during boost. ATI does not supply the AFPR. Actually, the AFPR is not required under their setup. A seperate fuel management diaphram is used to increase pressure under boost.

So ati uses an fmu to increase fuel pressure.

Is your tta stock?

Yes, now you see where I am coming from. ATI uses an FMU.

I was considering switching the ECM to the same as the GN and TTA, but was too far into the mods. So yes I have the ATI FMU.

This is what gives such great fuel pressure that is blowing the ADFP during boost. It is a progressive thing. You will notice the FP changing over time as the diaphram fails.

I have a stock TTA with 13,800 miles. I am a member of a news group for about 2 years. I always have the itch to modify the car, but want to preserve the originality.

Am currently considering high output fuel pump with hot wire kit, AFPR, and adjustible waste gate as a first mod.

If you do decide to modify your turbo car (I wouldn't) look into the MAF translator and ls1 style MAF instead of using the AFPR. The translator allows you to tune the car without touching fuel pressure at idle and WOT. Their are chips like the bob bailey style that allow you tunability that you wouldn't believe.

Your combo sounds stout, it seems to me that you are using the alky to control knock but I believe that you lack fuel on the top end and have too much on the bottom end or at idle. If this is the case I really don't know if adjusting your fp is the only answer.

Do you have access to a scanning tool?

I used Data Master software to collect data to get the chip programmed.

I think I am ok with my current set up. Please note that I was only haveing problems with trying to use a smaller pulley which would throw off the air fuel ratio that the chip was programmed for.

I have a "REAL" A/F ratio gauge that I monitor my fuel ratio. Everything is as it should be. The fuel ratio was modified as needed during the programming of the chip.

I added the alky set up with the expectation that I would be changing to the higher boost pulley. I wanted the added insuranceto help prevent any predetonation running "on the edge". I do not have any knock issues with my current set up.

Sorry for any confusion. My current set up is great. It appears that I will need to make modifications to the fuel set up if I want to add the smaller pulley, due to the added air intake.

After talking to several friends, I will probably keep the turbo car stock. Don't need added work!

Ya I would say 50lb injectors should be on the wish list along with a warlboro 340 pump and a dyno tune.

How much did the current chip cost you?

I am very interested in your setup because it is the way I would go if in your shoes. Do you have the D1sc blower?

I forget the cost of the chip (About 2 years now), but it was very reasonable. Contact list member Rooster433 at Rooster433@aol.com. He programmed my chip.

I have the D-1sc. The only way to go!

For my kit, Contact Dave at : http://www.tenperf.com/

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Ok at this link some people are questioning the original setup of willie. they seem to think that running the system in parallel would be better than the way it is. please post replies for all to see on either board.

Strange, those IC's look like the stock MX6/Probe ones! I only know that because I had one on my turbocharged Caravan

If you want to order this stuff from ATI, don't sit there and try to list all this stuff off to the poor guy on the other end of the phone. Just send this to them in an e-mail or print it off and fax it to them. Also, don't try to get an ATI tech to help you figure this out. The techs that were around when this was developed are no longer there. (Believe me, I've tried.) Just check out the pics and stuff in Willie's sticky at the top of the page.
