Well, it isn't a type-o. It's another TBI product that is meant for truck applications only. It does look pretty sweet, though a little pricey. It doesn't look like it would clear our distributor cap, but ya never know, with a few modifications, it could wook. I'll tell you what, if we could get this to work on our TBI cars, it would be a major step forward for our LO3s, especially if it even came close to giving the 50% power increase numbers. The word is superchargers don't work well with wet flow systems such as TBI, but maybe this product can disprove that theory. Hopefully someone with more knowledge on this subject can lend a little info.

Actually I heard superchargers/blowers weren't that great of a mod for our cars. I know it sounds silly but look at the guy on here who has one. He only runs a mid 14 (I think, I know its in the 14's) Pablo and that guy know more about why they aren't that great for our tbi cars. Maybe they will come on and explain, I Can't remember. Something to do with our cars being dry or wet. I can never remember, its to damn early.
I have had one on my truck for 8 years. Before I put it on the truck was unbareably slow. It can at least push the 6000lb around now.
I have a 383 on order. I learned enough from this forum to enable me to fuel it and tune it. Thanks, everyone for the help. I should have it in the truck in 2-3 months. The blower is going back on.
There shouldn't be any clearence problem with the blower and dist cap. Your hood may be a different story.
The main problem with supercharging a L03 is that it only increases performance by 40-50%. that is only 250hp on a stock motor. That isn't enough power to justify the $3500 cost of the Whipple. Now, combined with heads cam and intake it would perform that much better.
I have to agree that the 3500 cost is just way to much for a 85 HP gain. Exhaust, intake, holley 670 tbi and cam alone should gain more than that and much cheaper too. For that price you can get get that stuff installed at GM "professionally" too (but why toss money out like that?) . Sure I can see the "easy to install yourself bit" but its just not worth it. Now if you have money to blow and would like to create some kind of demon 305 engine then go right ahead... For that money I'd get a LS6 motor installed and be happy with a beast that would probably use up less gas than that creation and still make more horses...
Would something like that 03' Cobra supercharger really work? Does Eaton make that 'charger cuz I know they make them for the Lightnining/HD 150 motor...it wouldn't be so bad if that was the case because I'm in no way putting anything made by F&%# under my hood!!

In the near future:
Harland Sharp 1.5 roller rockers, MSD 6AL & coil, burn my own chips, Trans-Go shift kit & Corvette Servo, 3.73 posi , dropped 3/4 275/50/R15, 255/50/R15, Trick Flow 23 deg. heads
A Little further on: Dual electric fans,
new chrome front end w/ billet, headlights, clear markers & corners, double billet w/ teardrop lights front bumper,Cervini's Ram Air hood, sport mirrors, shaved antennae, door handles, & tailgate handle, roll pan w/ hidden hitch, caddy tails, custom 3rd brakelight, fill in stake holes, custom interior, bed carpet, & audio system
Actually, getting a supercharger for a TBI car isn't that hard. Just get a roots-style blower for a carbed car, and use the same adapter-plates that people use to put TBIs on carb manifolds. Of course, these are the least efficient (HP-spent-to-make-more-HP) kind of blower, but...
Now fitting it under your hood, that's another story...
And the one (or two, maybe) TBI blower guys here both said that if they could do it over, they'd have spent the SC money on heads/intake/exhaust/cam mods instead.. I believe one of them also noted that 7psi is the max boost one should feed a L03...
Dave_A, you are right. Any blower would work as long as you can determine how to fit it. I dont own a F body, but I believe a “Vortec” style blower would be the best fit.
Someone says that the “Whipple” only adds 40%-50% power. Well yes, if you pack 40-50% more charge into the cylinder, the torque output increase will be about 40%-50%. But guess what. That torque increase is almost right off idle. My Whipple has 4 lb boost off idle and jumps to 6lb at 1500rpm. Total power increase integrated through the entire RPM curve is about 35%. You have to think about more than peak power.
Now all of this ocurrs with those crappy stock heads and cam. The blower affects the useable RPM range a little but not by much. As you all know peak power is affected by extending peak torque to higher RPM. From what I read all of you guys know how to do that. However you do need to be careful about how much cam you add to a boosted engine.
It has worked well in the truck and will work even better when I get better breathing.
The project would be tough with a F body but it can probably be done.
I have a procharged 305 TBI, and I love it. The only time you will have problems with a wet flow system is when you are running high boost #'s. With my 6#'s I am running, I have noticed a pretty sizable increase, especially over my previous setup. The real bottleneck in these motors is the heads, once you are beyond that the performance really starts opening up. Before the charger my car was clocking a high 13 to a low 14, and on the 16th of this month I should be out at the track (weather permitting) to see what the charger did.
