LT1 with ported stock heads and high boost?

I know that AFRs have thicker decks and are better suited for high boost applications (20 psi or more), but am I going to have head gasket (or worse) problems with the stock castings? I plan to use ARP studs regardless. I already have a set of Lingenfelter worked LT1 heads, and will go LT1 with my project if I can use them. If not, I'll probably just build a regular SBC. Any opinions?

Send a message via AIM to Z28ricer
LT1 heads end up with a very small chamber after you start with a 58 cc head, mill it flat etc, requiring deeeep dish pistons if you want low enough compression to run high boost, www.flatlanderracing.com has the LT4 AFR for about 1600 which you can get with a 70cc chamber.

Thanks Z28 Racer, the 58cc chamber was also a concern that I failed to mention. Looks like my girlfriend Shannon is getting a set of Lingenfelter heads! I'll look into the AFRs, thats a much better price than I've been seeing.
