I bought new GM horns. They have studs out the back. I drilled holes in the flat plate just behind the nose. You know, the place where you put all your tools while working on the car!
Got under the car and pushed the studs up through the plate. Need someone to put the lock nut on for you. Ran new wires to the horns. Perfect!
The vacuum canister was relocated. Will post photos from Willie's set up. Same place on a TA or Firebird.
Just to update everyone, I ordered the progressive Alky kit today from SMC Enterprises.
Steve (The Owner) was very helpful and we spoke for some time concerning tuning issues.
Due to the lack of space in the engine compartment I needed to place the fill bottle under the hood latch area behind the front bumper. Steve provided the additional braided steel hose and wiring at no extra charge!
I should get the kit in about 2 weeks. However, I am going to take my time installing it as the weather is really bad this time of year in southern Louisiana.
Once everything is installed, it will take a little more time to get it tuned properly for optimum alky output. Too little alky and it will still knock, too much and it will bog the engine.
The progressive unit is a little easier to tune as it increases the pump speed as boost increases.
I am using this unit to insure zero detonation with the new 15# pulley.
I just installed the 3.40" pulley with the help of my wife. I had to remove the driver's side top bolt, the two passenger side bolts and loosen the bottom driver's side bolt of the blower to get the belt onto the pulley. I then pulled the blower into place and she threaded and tightened the two larger bolts. I took it from there.
The correct belt for the D-1SC with a 3.40" pulley is a NAPA 25080635: Length= 64.50".
The belt rides on the pulleys just fine.
I took it out for a ride and was able to get 12# boost . Too much traffic to go all out. ATI expects the blower to produce 15# on my set up.
According to ATI, this will give me approximately 460 FWHP. Not too bad for the little 305!
I plan on tuning the alky injection over the holidays to ensure that I am getting zero knock.
This is the end of my project. Hope others will benefit from my experience.
If you were a little closer, I'd help you set it up right!
T-5 is doing fine, but I try to treat it well.
I did not update this post yet with the latest news, but I had to go back to the 10 # pulley. The added air flow at idle was causing problems during cold weather.
Looks like I will need to be content with 343 RWHP!
Mypontiac,
How did you mount your battery. I see from your pictures you slid it over towards the radiator, but there is a lip there in the floor. Did you put something underneith the battery? Did you use the stock bolt hole and battery clamp? Any pics? Thanks for any info?

It would be too difficult to measure as there is just no room to access it with the battery in. And taking the battery out would require removal of too many things that have been adjusted and set in place.
You should just contact ProCharger for the dimensions. Wouldn't hurt to give it a try.
Contact Dorian in the tech department and tell him that Sean with the 1991 TA recommended him.
Here is it in the car (passenger side in my case) Corner thru hole, is where it bolts to the stock location. Center hole is threaded to match the bolt that you will use to thighten hold down with.
I am selling my very nice 1991 Convertible TA with D-1SC Procharger. Search Mypontiac for history of car.
The stock crank snout fractured and I do not have the time to work on the rebuild.
The car has the following items:
D-1SC Procharger with Willie's custom intercooler system
SLP Stainless Steel headers and 3" exhaust
Crane Cam for supercharger
SLP intake runners
SLP air foil
Custom High Performance chip
Crane roller rockers
TPIS big mouth intake
Accel 23# injectors
Racetronix high flow/pressure fuel pump and wiring harness
All new ignition items (wires, cap, rotor, etc)
MSD Digital Ignition System
MSD Boost Retard
SMC Alky Injection System
QA1 Adjustable Racing Shocks
Nitto Drag Radials Front and Back
Spohn Panhard Bar, Lower Control Arms, and Torque Arm
Polyurethane Bushings on Sway Bars
FJO Air/Fuel Ratio (real readings)
Boost Gauge and Fuel Pressure Gauge in Driver's side pillar post
Re: Not trying to brag, but introducing the first twin intercooled 3rd gen TA ProChar
Sean, glad to see you are back. You said the stock crank snout fractured on the old engine. Was that the stock 305 crank? Have you used a forged crank this time? Is it one with with a BBC style snout?
I've been erring towards getting a Procharger for some time now, but I find the idea of snapping crank snouts quite frightening!
Good luck with the new combo! Let us know how the dyno numbers and track times work out.
Re: Not trying to brag, but introducing the first twin intercooled 3rd gen TA ProChar
Of course the ProCharger was about $4,000 at the time I purchased the kit.
But you will need to do additional upgrades to the ignition (MSD type ignition), better coil, plug wires, etc. Also, add a high flow fuel pump to the tank.
Then I added better valve springs, rocker arms, cam, etc.
You can see the list of mods a few posts up.
I don't want to think of how much I have into it now, but I am sure you can guess!
Re: Not trying to brag, but introducing the first twin intercooled 3rd gen TA ProChar
I made some progress this weekend getting some mods completed on the TA.
I finished the installation of my new alky injection tank and injection nozzle. This required the relocation of the carbon canister, which I also completed.
The unit is the new Progressive Controller and pump system from SMC.
I also recently installed a remote solenoid kit to (hopefully) eliminate hot start problems.
I plan on doing final wiring for the controller and having the TA back on the street this week!
Re: Not trying to brag, but introducing the first twin intercooled 3rd gen TA ProChar
No problem!
Am considering getting a few panels repainted (lower door moldings, bumpers and trunk lid). Everything else was repainted since I have owned the car and still looks good.
Once I feel good about the mechanics I plan on driving it a few days a week.

Re: Not trying to brag, but introducing the first twin intercooled 3rd gen TA ProChar
Dorian helped Willie and I put the package together.
Unless he is still with ATI, there is no one there to help.
Basically, Willie ordered a bunch of parts and made it himself. They shipped me the same parts and I used photos frrom Willie as a guide to put it all together.
Re: Not trying to brag, but introducing the first twin intercooled 3rd gen TA ProChar
You would think in this economy that they would look for ways to make money and offer the option. I have been eyeballing the ATI TPI SC kits. I actually had one of the very first modded ATI D1 kits on a C5. If you check my sig you can see what a Twin IC ATI D1 Blower looked like with the Rad titled back to allow for cold air induction into the blower....since that time they increased the CFM of the Twin IC's for the C5 kit. If they could just piece that together with the existing TIP kit, it wouldn't probably take a lot to make it work with the TPI cars. But ATI never had very good customer service for the C5 guys in the early days...makes be skeptical about going with one of their products anyway.
If you think about it, this guy Willie did a lot of R&D for them and they didn't have the sense to adopt the design like they did with the C5 kit after a couple of years.
Oh well I may have to just turbo my car since there are no other SC setups with an intercooler.
