whipple charger

i was looking at a whipple charger kit for an 89-95 chevy truck with a TBI small block and was wondering if this will bolt up to my car i have extra hood clearance with the ram air hood so that is not an issue. the picture i was looking at even had the alternator and A/C in the same location as my 92 firebird.

I have also commented on the idea and I think it is definitely a good thing to try. With your kit who supplies the ECM programming? If it is the kit supplier, tell them what you are trying and see if they will burn you a prom for the bird.

I thing wieand also has a setup

yea the supplier sels the kit with a chip and one that i was looking at came with a hand held programer. another thing i want to know is if the blower comes with a manifold base or how it works because i am planning on getting heads and intake so if it comes with a manifold base i will buy heads first and buy the blower to fit the heads i buy. but if the blowermounts to an intake i will have to buy an intake first so it fits that havnt really saw any good pics of one intstalled just would like to know because they look really sweet sitting there with no carb or anything on top of them.

the blower mounts to its own special intake. I'd assume most of them are for 87-up sbc heads, though maybe they make a vortec base.

If you want to put it together fairly cheaply, and if they offer a vortec base, i'd go that direction myself.

The whipple TBI kit uses the stock intake manifold.

To misquote "Jaws".....I think your gonna need a bigger hood!

Too bad they don't make a intake base to put that blower on so you can get a lower profile.

I am running this kit on a first gen camaro. You would have to change your front brackets to make it work the car and truck ones are different. It did come with a chip but no hand held programmer??

It 25thrss is right it bolts to tbi three bolt style intake manifold.

There is a picture of my car in the post pics of power adder section if you want to see how it looks. Though I am running a multiport setup under it rather then tbi.

I can try to answer any questions on the kit.

No I have not had it at the track yet. I have only really driven it on and off a car trailer at this point. It is still being worked on, in fact the car is blue now not red that the picture shows. I am hoping to get it back together over the winter and have it on the road come spring. But it sure feels like it is going to have some awesome low end grunt.

I am not sure what size it is but I am guessing it will put out 6-7 psi boost. I got it used for a pretty good deal I don't know I would have bought a new one to do this project.

I wish I had some better seat time to give you more input, sorry.

Other pics?

Any chance of getting a pic of how the TB mounts to the supercharger?

I'm assuming that it bolts on horizontally on the back of the Whipple?

Thanks!

I don't have a real great picture of the side to show how it sits on there. The car is at the body shop right now. But yes it bolts to back side of charger, it is not sitting at a 90 degree angle it tilts towards the front some. You can see it in the picture but I know it does not show the angle real well. I have been meaning to get some picture of it at the body shop. I'll try to snap one of it from the side showing the tbi.

Since I have the ****ty 305 & swapping to the 350. Would it be best to get the 350 TBI out of a truck then bolt this charger up to that if I so choose?
