if it is the rajay made for the old Accel or Rajay sbc carbed turbo kit they are "smallish" not T-72 size, not even really even 60-1 size, if it is that one.
I would recommend buying what you want to start with. Buying something cheaper at first, and then having to upgrade later is IMO, a waste of time and money. Remember- the turbocharger itself is usually cheaper than what the rest of the turbo system is going to cost. If you can't afford a decent turbo, you probably can't afford the rest of the turbo system. For instance, I paid $300 for my used turbochargers off eBay, and another $200 for the rebuild kits. The total cost of turbocharging my car was around $3,000 (and I did all the work myself). Later I upgraded to larger T3/T4 hybrid turbos for another $1000. If I had bought the right turbos to begin with, I would have spent $3500 total instead of $4000.
Changing flanges is no big deal… I’ve done it a bunch of times for people and it’s almost always a simple cut off what’s there and weld on what you need now deal.
Upgrades aren’t that big a deal, the way the current market is for turbo parts it’s fairly easy to make back most of what you put into a turbo unless you’ve actually damaged it in the mean time. If you dig up messed up, dirty grungy stuff to start with, clean it up and rebuild it, you’ll actually come out even or ahead.
That being said, I’d still probably pass on the Rajay

Thats true. I never figured in the fact that I can still resell my nice polished/recently rebiult Volvo turbos and at least break even. Of course, my Z24 now sports one of the old turbos, so I guess I can't sell them as a pair

I bet for that price it is the kit that B4Ctom is talking about (for older carb applications). IIRC, it doesn't even fit 86+ heads because it interferes with the valve cover rails.
All right guys, thanks a lot for the help i really appreciate it. I just ordered the book "turbochargers" by MacInnes from amazon, hopefully i can fill my brain with enough knowledge to answer my own questions
350 is not a bad price at all to get started on especially if it includes a turbo exhaust manifold. They used to sell for 350 by themselves.RayJay is a very good turbo but cost more to rebuild and I've been told the bearings and shaft are both larger than a Garrett.A 301E10 will make about 450-500 FWHP so that would give you a thrill but the 10 part means a 1.0 A/R exhaust housing which would be a little slow to spool on a 305.The compressor map is almost the same as a T04B with a V1 wheel and I'm not 100 percent positive but I think the mount is the same also.I could measure mine but you would have to know the Garrett dimensions. The book your getting should have all that in there also.

It wouldn't go on my 305, most likely on a L98 with a turbo cam and HSR. And the car will be a T56, I have always hated automatics and im finally getting enough money to change it.

yeah all the kits like this I have seen have a "rams horn" style turbo manifold which wont fit our cars
