Is it worth superchargeing in the long run

I'm thinking about buying a supercharger in the near future, I've checked several sites and found ATI procharger being #1 while Vortech being #2 choice. I've read alot of horror stories about superchargers; mostly going out after several thousand miles. My 91' L98 is't a daily driver, I'm getting the impression it's not worth $3000+ to buy a supercharger to getting four thousand miles out of it. Anyone with success stories.

I used to run a Procharger P-1SC on my GTA. It was fun for awhile, but the thing I didn't like was when you were trying to get higher boost levels with it, the standard belt/pulley would experience belt slippage and not make the boost I wanted. I could have gone with a cog belt setup, but then I heard about the crank snout being ripped off from the strain of the belt and high RPMs, so I took it off and sold it.

I'm working on a remote mount turbo setup now.
