I have a 383 stroker motor in my 88 iroc.and its running 9.7 to 1 compression is that to high to run a centrifugal blower? And at what psi should i run it. any help would be appreciated. also whats a good blower kit to run on a 88 iroc with a carb. thanks

9.7:1 isn't all that bad depending on what your dynamic compression is. What cam are you running?

As far as blowers, you don't need anything crazy b/c you won't use it w/ 9.7:1 compression, I'd suggest a procharger that comes w/ a 3 core intercooler. Depending on the dynamic compression and the tune, you should be able to run between 7-10psi.

my cam is 498/ 510 lift. I want to get it into the lower 12 if possible, do you think that is possible with 7-10 psi? Why do you say i wont be using the procharger with 9.67 to 1 compression

9.7:1 compression is on the high side for running boost. You might be able to get away with some though. I would stay below 6psi.

Shouldn't a naturally aspirated 383 be able to get in the low 12's?

Some should some shouldnt, this is a pretty mild motor. i got a 383 in my truck that runs low 12's but its got a bigger cam and higher compression and a little better heads. Just depends on whats in the motor
