Call me stupid or insane but...

Could a big electric fan in the intake provide 1-2 psi of boost? The only problems I could see with this is:

1. would Throttling the fan with RPMs be necessary or could it run at a constant speed?

2. Not enough space

3. Might Drain the battery a lot or require a seperate battery/more powerful alternator

P.S. I don't think I'm insane

While you are at it, why dont you put one inthe exhaust too. I bet it would pull the exhaust out faster so you could get more air in.

Hey for weight savings you might try taking your driveshaft guard off too. You know, that thing that runs from the rear end to the transmission that keeps the driveshaft from hitting the drivers side floorboard in case you put a lot of HP through your motor via the go pedal and it breaks.

I also heard that auto zone is stocking high performance blinker fluid reservoirs too. $59.99 for hi polished 6061 aluminum version!

No it wont work.

We've tried the electric turbo here at work to no avail. The performance benefits didn't make up for the cost. The only "fan on car" that I've ever seen work is under the car to create a low pressure zone so the gfx will work better (opposite of a hovercraft, but same idea). Used in NASCAR and banned after 1 race. If you want an idea of how much air a fan would have to push, put you hand over the TB while the engine is idling. That's about 50-100 cfm or so depending on the engine. Just imagine how much more that would be at 500 or more cfm.

Having electricity turn a supercharger is nothing special. It is just like having a belt turn the supercharger. Forced induction works off of a several blades that compress air. You can use whatever you want to turn those blades; Exhaust, belt drive, electricity. The whole thing is that you have to have the ability to pressurize the air. If it is not pressurized it is just like a cold air induction.
If you put a simple one blade fan at the end of your intake pipe it will not be able to accomplish anything. Take a supercharger apart if you want to see what it take to force air into a system.

That's a good price on those blinker fluid reservoirs.
I wonder if they have synthetic high viscosity blinker fluid?

Obviously this is not a typical set up, I was just wondering if it was possible and just one of those things that you see every blue moon (kind of like the Coates' cam-less engine). Thanks to everyone who gave usefull information. And to IROCKZ4me, Blockhead & rudys119, sorry for asking.
