Weiand pro street 250 blower...

Just throwing this one out there...

Its another option i guess, the TT setup is going to take alot of hours to rig up which would be a good winter project but then again why not just bolt on a blower over the weekend and be done with it?!

But one thing i dont like is all the horror stories of people snapping snouts off their cranks! I dont want to run a tiny underhood blower, im looking at the weiand 250 which is a fair sized beast so i assume it will put qute a bit of load on the crank...

I may bolt this onto my latest beast, which would have a head swap to 76-78cc chambers giving me about 8.4-8.5:1 static comp so i should be good for maybe 8psi on alum heads. Chances are i would nuke the motor and build another one thats purpose built for forced induction. Gotta love multiple jobs, got more money than i know what to do with!

Since this thing would be sticking out the hood and have a scoop, whats your views on driving in the rain? Im not talking about driving in a storm when its pouring, but if its light rain and i gotta get home or something.

Maybe a fuel gauge upgrade is needed too, the stock one wont be able to keep up with the drop from those 2x4's on that thing

Driving it in the rain will not hurt it in anyway..... even in a heavy down pour....if anything the small amount of water that you will get through the filters will be beneficial

Awesome, i figured it wouldnt hurt as it would be basically the same as using water/meth injection. except if it was pouring rain i think it would hydrolock...

The only way you would ever have a problem would be if you had a scoop that didn't have a open bottom or any drain holes at the back..... street scoops that have air cleaners will work just fine in any type of rain.

Well, since the blower comes with the 2x4bbl plate and holley's smallest blower carb is 600cfm i should grab the 1x4bbl plate and use a single 750cfm carb? or would it be fine with 2x 600cfm carbs?

The dual quads would look awesome on there but i dont want to do it if it wont run worth a crap!

Send a message via AIM to level
whipple or a kb blower would make a lot more power.

you bastard

I read an article online about modifying a q-jet to be blow through, I think that'd be kinda cool...

Your bottom end is all cast isn't it? hmm, remember the piston ring gaps you set? I dunno about snapping the snout off the crank... I don't think that's as common as people say. Stock single keyway sorta thing?

I think 6psi, on a 350 SBC, 8.5:1 static CR, would get you close to 500HP, and your bottom end would live a good long time.
not to say the rest of the car would, *cough axle snaps cough*

I think an electric return style fuel pump with regulator would be the way to go.

You will be fine with two 600's plus that will give you some room to move your boost later on. I have Carter comp series on mine and love them but since they are not available any longer I have used the Edlebrock carb's on the last two setups I built plus with the holley's you will have to turn them sideways I believe .....rule of thumb with the forced induction unless you are doing some serious racing you want to stay on the rich side and a little lazy on the timing (I have a adjustable timing contol on the dash to make that part simple) and always have a higher octane level than you think you need and your motor will stay happy an last a long time.

Well i doubt i would be using the new motor thats in my car now, it is all cast and set up for N/A.

My buddys looking for a motor for his truck so i may be able to sell it to him to help fund another bottom end, which of course would be forged so it doesnt blow apart like 4th of july fireworks under the hood

But if all else fails and nobody wants to buy it, ill throw the blower on the block in my car now and at least get some of my moneys worth out of it...

The rest of the drivetrain will also be upgraded as it grenades.

Trans would be swapped for a th400 then hopefully a manual swap when i can get all the parts together. When the rear grenades i would be going to a 12bolt posi.

Maybe i can try and rig up the blow through Q-jet on my other camaro. Ive got a couple good Q-jets laying around and the other car is not being used... Im sure i could find a turbo at the JY i can rig up for $50 and see what happens.
