How do i remote mount a supercharger???

Basically i can get a supercharger made for a 3.8 very cheap but i have a 2.8 and i dont wanna engine swap so forget that, ive invested to much time and money into my enigne and have too much time left on it to scrap it right now. I posted another thread about if i could use this turbo on the 2.8 and someone suggested that i could remote mount it and i know what that means and i can figure how to mount it i just dont know how to get the boost from the sc to the engine the "right" way. Should i run a large flexable hose like the intake hose or shouse i rip out the intake hose and run a metal setup and gradually narrow the tube until i reach the right size at the intake manifold.

Someone please give ideas or even another instance where youve seen a remote mounted turbo so i can get some idea of how i could do this and if it will cost more than my car to do.

83 Crossfire TA posted a picture or two of a remote mount supercharger last year on a 5.0 engine. It would give you an idea of how to set it up. I forget the the name of the thread, but do a search for his name in the power adder. I should bring it up fairly quickly. His setup was nice. It looked like it used all aluminum for the brackets and plates.

I'm confused, are you talking about the 3.8 supercharger that bolts below the manifold? Or is it a turbo?

Yea im talking about the one for the 3.8

I can get a junk yard turbo for 100 tho and i can get a junkyard supercharger out of a mazda millenia for 150 so now i need to decide which to get but im leaning toward the SC's due to the lack of boost lag.

i couldnt find that post on here, you sure it was this site. As for the turbo or sc im going out to the biggest junk yard on long island tomoro well technically today but after i sleep and seeing if i cant get the whole turbo set up from some volvo or vw or 300gt or something even a 300zx idont care cuz ill make it fit but i figure if i buy it all at once from one junkyard ill get a nice price and the intercoolers are good forever almost and i can make sure the turbo spins freely first and the blow off and wastegate ill just make the guy say i can take them back if they dont work. If i cant get the parts tho and/or at least a pic or the remote mounted sc i might just upgrade suspensions for now cause mines not so good.

this isnt something ur just gonna run out and get parts for,ur gonna need to find a correctly sized supercharger, figure out what its gonna take to mount it etc,and total cost.mounting it is actually the easiest part,u could modify the ac braket to mount the supercharger, but then u need to run the ductwork and everything else

well i dont care what its made to be put on i just care about will it fit, will it work, and can i run the duct work. Actuall my biggest fear is that i wont run the ducting right and ill be forcing alot of air out of a small leaking and break something by causing vibrations in there. Im glad to see your looking at this one Dave cause i know your the guy to talk to about turboing a thirdgen and i was hoping you've seen someone adapt an sc from a 3800 motor to a 2.8
I was really curious actually if you knew of someway to run the boost efficeintly to the intake manifold form the sc.

My idea: pretty much i wanna take this sc and mount it somewhere on the side so the belt can still drive the sc but i was think if i flip it up side down and mount it way down in the engine bay i could just run the bost into a "collector" and then wled that to a 3 inch tube that connects dirctly to the intake. but i dont know if there would be any problems with this.

I've posted a pic of the sc if someone doesnt know which one im taking about cause its not the little vortech turbocharger looking one. (not sure which one ill get im asking him for measurements)

IMHO, forget the 3.8 S/C, that's going to be way harder than finding a junk yard turbo and modifying it to fit. My e-bay turbo was $177 delivered to my house.

Check out Mike Sitar's web page for a remote mount setup using Supercoupe blowers (yeah, I know it's the "other" brand) The outlet is on the "bottom" however, so you'll end up having to fabricate a bonnet/outlet for your blower. This will however give you an idea where to start.

It's a brand new T304E from the e-bay store "just-intercoolers" daves12secv6 has been running his for 20k + miles and no problems. Before going and buying a used turbo for $200, check out e-bay. Anytime you get a used turbo, it SHOULD be rebuilt (or checked by a qualifyed individual) before going in your car! Wouldn't it suck if you built your engine and the turbo (or S/C for that matter) destroys what you've already accomplished?!
.
EDIT : How about this for "another brand", 10 second Turbo Reliant K:

New turbos are are a good way to go. If you do go with a used turbo check it out well.

Bro thanx for the awesome link, thats exactly what ive been looking for i just didnt really know how to run the blower into the intake if i mounted it on the side. I can get a decent blower for real cheap and its small but its serves my purposes.

Maybe sometime down the road ill run a supercharger and a turbo charger for the low and high boost cuz each lacks effciency at one. til then i think itll just be the super. I keep posting as i get the peices and fab and install but it wont be right away.

ok so im not turboing or supercharging anything yet because i just picked up my bronce from my mechanic and i started telling him what i was planning on doing. he told me he has a 350 with 58000 miles on it that he'll give me so first im going to bore that out and buy all the other componets i need to change like altenator and spark plugs and wires and all that stuff first then ill run possibly two turbos or a supercharger and a turbo. sorry if anyone wanted to see the v6 get remote supered but in a few months you can see a 383 get sc or turbo not sure which is first.

its some junk yard in moriches. if you take sunrise hwy east i think its exit 59 or 58 but dont quote me. ive been told by a few ppl it the biggest junk yard on the island. I was told it something around 20 acres and its on the corner and goes down both streets and way back. They are crazy there though. dont even bother getting anything from them. they told me for lower control arms off of a forth gen 100 bucks and good quality aftermarkets are 115 brand new on a bunch of sites. also they told me 200 for a crappy used turbo out of a volvo or something when i can buy one twice as good on ebay for 150. the aluminum driveshaft out of a 4th gen with out the vibration reducer he said 110. and the hood and hatch struts b/c i would buy them all at once would be a cheaper 20 a piece($80) there 85 for brand new ones. the guy is nuts and should just go play in traffic. Maybe it because im 18 and he thinks i dont kow any better but i made one of there guys look stupid when he started asking questions about how i could ever turbo a camaro and why would i buy an intercooler.

Maybe you'd have better luck if your a little older but I'd say not to go if its more then 5 miles away from where you are, just save your gas and call a few smaller shops like middle country auto wreckers. they said 100 for a used turbo and 150 for a supercharger that was rebuilt three weeks before it got there out of a newer mazda. The guy was good about the prices and let me check the yard real quik to see if there was anything else i might want, and he didnt act like i didnt know what i wanted or what stuff was worth just because im young.

Eh...I'm 19 and I'm from new hyde park, so it is kind of alittle ride. But there is a junkyard about 3 mins away from me, July Auto Wrecking, but I don't liek any of the people there either, they kind of treat me the same way i guess...."F" them tho, a-holes. I like to stay away from them as much as I can, unless I really need something badly the same day, it is e-Bay for me.
