Timing 305 tbi with nitrous

so... like many others i disconnected the est wire and set my timing at 6* advanced.stock timing is 0*. so.. with the nitrous you run a couple degrees retarded per 50 shot, but the question is: from where. retarded from stock, or retarded from ... what i have it set at.

also, does setting the base timing like this affect the final timing (i want it to be 28* as per tbi requirements) and i never checked to see if my 0-6 adjustment changed this. anyways....

gonna blow this bitch up with the 200 shot. ill be able to say i have a 400hp car-- that only ran once. lol.

Re: Timing 305 tbi with nitrous

You retard it from where it runs best on motor at. Which is obviously NOT the stock setting(which is very conservative.)

base timing changes change the total timing just the same. Add to to the base adds 2 to the total. I believe the advance adds 20 degrees. 10 base=30 total.

My 305 ran well with 32 total and 30 on a 150 shot. Pulling more timing REALLY made the car fall on it's face. On a good day it went 12.80's. On a day when I pulled 6 degrees per the nitrous rule of thumb, it ran 14.0's...drastic change for sure. goodluck! It's a learning curve. Start low and work your way up, read the plugs as best you can.

so what timing are you guys running? im retarded at 4 degrees atm because i thought it was from the factory set point. although i am running a 125 shot although i may up it to a 150 once i can get on the dyno. im wondering if i should put it at 0 or 2 degrees advanced now.

ok well stock car is 0 and a while back i set it at 6adv. what a change in power!!! well, yesterday i set it back to 3* adv (1 1/2 degree per 50 shot) and uh.. well.. i used my entire first bottle last night. rofl. man nitrous is sooo much fun. the guy in the porsche cayenne S was like wtf!

i DID lose to a typhoon though, thought it was a blazer w/ ***** gauges at first but we raced and uh.. he smoked me, found out it was a typhoon w/ a pt44 turbo.

I would really like to know more about this as well.I'm just afraid to blow my motor up.The only thing that true concerns me is that I live in a hot desert climate and detenation due to the heat here is very common.(car sucking in alot of hot air).
