Procharger TPI, or HSR

Hi fellas, my name's mick, i'm seventeen and i own a 1989 iroc TPI 5 speed car and an 84 all original 5.0 H.O. with world class five speed. I've been recently taking my black 89 to the track and ran a 14.68 with a peg leg rearend, switching to posi soon and a plain old port job and some high quality aftermarket ignition parts no msd stuff yet. I jsut bought a 1968 350 long block and am in the rebuilding process, i want to maybe put vortec heads on it or just port out the heads it has on it as of right now. But my main concern is would it be cheaper and better off to keep my TPI and add a procharger set up. or a holley stealth ram. I really am a die hard natural aspirated kinda guy, i don't want the procharger while i'm still in highschool since the cops are already on me. so would the hsr be a better idea? i'm already saving up for the rebuild and a different intake manifold to bolt up to pre 86 heads, and i want more rpm's ot play with but is the HSR that much better. I need this thing to be some what cost efficient and able to race on friday clean saturday at a show and drive to church sunday, bascially a pure form street strip car. I have no clearance issues since i have a jongbloed hood and have removed some unnecessary parts like the A/C and am installing and underdrive pulley system. SO yea, any suggestions help out a lot, and one other question, this is my first chevy engine build should i jsut bore it .30 over, or .60? and stroke or no stroke, i prfer not but it's always a thought. Thanks again, Mick Virrilli

Re: Procharger TPI, or HSR

IrocV, well....I'd say spend the dough on a HSR and a procharger. I bought a P1SC almost 5 years ago and I'd do it all over again given the chance. Build it while you can is my motto. If you're worried about cops and your blower setup then be more mature when you drive it. A blower doensn't mean drive like an Ahole because you'll end up hurting/killing yourself or even worse...someone else. Given the things you've listed you plan on doing, it sounds like your in a no emissions worry area (I'm very envious). A stock 305/350 will handle a procharger kit all day long and leave you with a grin on your face each time you drive it. The HSR will be a great addition to that grin. Good luck on whatever you end up deciding to do.
