New 305 is in and tuned! The first pulley results are in....
598 RWHP, 604 FT LBS TRQ @ 16 Lbs of Boost. Max power acheived at 5800 rpm.
So the ole Vortech V7-Ysi is finally kicking out some good numbers.
Have the drag racing pulley still on order but should se 25 lbs with that one. Trying the Gates Poley Gog Carbon GT belts system and very happy so far.

Umm, more details please....

Factory 305 block, over .060 with JE flat top pistons, Eagle H-Beam rods, Eagle forged crankshaft and Eagle four bolt splay conversion. Running a Rattler balance and Centerline SFI steel flywheel with their new puck style disk and pressure plate. The heads are Edlebrock Performer heads for center bolt valve covers. Running 1:6 ration Crane roller rockers and Crane HP replacement OE roller lifters. The cam shaft is an old school adaptation so I could run a Crane belt drive system. The injectors are eight Accel low impedance 45 lbs and two Accel high impedance 150 lbs injectors running on a piggy back FIC. The intake is a Holley twin 58mm throttle body into a stock upper to SLP runners into a stock base, all VERY ported for flow and matching. I’m sure I missed some detail, so please feel free to ask.
Yes, I’m still running the “beefed” up 10-bolt…. I know that makes to 10 bolt haters disappointed, but as my post explained from last year, IT WORKS! My gross horse power is over 700 and I’ve taken the car to a couple events so far. The miracle is the T-5 with no modifications still hanging in there!? Though by now I would have to send it off to World but that day hasn’t come yet.
The question on AFR is we maintained 11.8:1 and the timing is set OE due to still running a factory ECM and factory chip. The timing master kicks in at 6 lbs and subtracts one degree of timing for one pound of boost. This is conservative because we never had detonation indications on all the pulls made.
Gates has developed a belt system (Same as on Top Fuel Dragsters & Funny Cars) called a Poly Cog Carbon GT (think I wrote that right). It is a polyurethane belt with a carbon fiber carcass. It is ultra strong and has much less drag than a conventional rubber belt. ASP builds the pulleys for this system. You can not run this belt on a standard cog pulley, so don’t try. The pitch is slightly different. Another nice feature of the belt is it won’t suffer stretching.
Sorry about any typo….Thanks for all the great questions.
PS- The last pulley should make right at 700 RWHP. I’ll write in with the results next month.
Just wow.
If you had sticky tires you'd get to pull the front tires right off the ground. And get to pick up all the pieces of your driveline
Do you have a DS loop or cage?
That vortech blower sounds awesome. Centrifugal eh? When do you start to see boost when you hammer it?
Thats awesome, so you do plan on racing the car? I'm interested to see how hard you launch with that rear and how long it lasts. I'd love to see it hang in there...
Simply awesome! It's like Preston Smith all over again (when he ran the Vortech)....

Heh, I wanna hear you say that after your first trip to the track, with a 1.50 sixty foot....

Yes I have a twelve point cage and a drive shaft loop. Boost come on right at WOT about 2 psi at 3k. It's very linear to 5.8k
The only thing I worry about leaving on the ground is the tranny. I do love the 10-bolt conversations though....All I can say is going on year three and it's been through road racing, land speed and drag racing with Mickey Thompson ET streets doing 11's in the quarter. Guess we'll see what she does with 10's hey?
Will never try a 1.50 60 ft with a 2.73 rear end......
Will never try a 1.50 60 ft with a 2.73 rear end......
How do you plan on running 10's then? What was the 60 w/the 11 second pass....?

That's exactly what I was eluding to, if he ran an eleven second pass with a 1.7 sixty foot, how can he run a ten second pass without running much closer to 1.5x in the sixty. How much power was he making with those 11 second passes prior to the new dyno numbers?

Dont know what chip you have but that would give appr around 18deg at full boost. I wonder what power you will make with a little more timing.

It's like this....Baby it in 1st, shift to second and let it eat!!!!
You must have nine second potential then, to baby it in 1st, and expect a ten second run. Do you have any pics of the dyno graph, cuz I'd definitely like to see the power curve....

I know 600-RWHP is enough to get him into the nine's, but I said the above because easing your way into 1st, shifting into second, then letting it eat thereafter won't necessarily facilitate a ten second pass, unless your running deep into the 9's already....

Well whatever, lol, I dont think I'd be drag racing it at all. Whats the point? Unless you just want the mph. Somethings gonna break. But then if I drove it, it'd be broke already.
I don't think he'll break the rear just yet though, especially if he's running the stock universal joint, that would snap like a twig, first (hopefully). I'm just glad somebody finally threw down some good numbers with a supercharged 305. Preston Smith was the only one to date as far as I'm concerned, but Zdaddy appears to have topped him with the Vortech, Click Here ("Kinetic Engineering" 10 Second 305 TPI IROC...)....

Headers were 1 3/4, I'm sure the intake was a little big. Compression was low, like 100 psi. (76cc heads). Probably what saved the motor. I ran at least 15 psi to it. It went, but not great. Fun on the autobahn though.
Didnt want to ship a 350 over so I just bought parts that would swap over. I wonder how it would have been had I put more effort into it.

You missed the 1st part of the post where I have one more pulley being made be ASP that will produce 8 more lbs of boost. This will get me close to a 700 RWHP number. When I was running mid 11's I would baby 1st then let 2nd eat with 485 rwhp. I think it should manage a 10 without pushing it too hard.
I'm running an Inland Empire SFI drive shaft. U-joints should do fine so no prezels!
If I get a chance, I'll drop the computer to get the prom numbers. It's a little harder getting it out with the coll cage now (I look like a prezel taking it out) lol

Zdaddy, there is no doubt that you will run the numbers with the power your pushing, but my sarcasm had to do with babying the launch, and shifting rather easily. One second isn't very long, in fact, it only takes about, well, a second to go by lol, and is usually the result from a poor launch, and shift. People who use horsepower numbers to determine 1/4 times are usually assuming that the car is going all out, from start to finish. If yours actually runs the numbers by babying it, well then, your running a hell of a lot quicker than you really think.

i'm not being negative here, i'm just having trouble believeing these horsepower numbers out of a 305, can you get a video of this thing on the dyno? do you have a pic of the dyno sheet?
That's the BBC vortech eh?
Z-daddy you got the part number for the complete kit from summit?
86Z, what were your results with your procharged 305? 500RWHP or so wasn't it?
zdaddy, i'm not wise to TPI or injection in general, but could you explain to this layman how you used the 8 normal injectors and the two BIG BOY ones? ie, how they were controlled? The 150lbers only came on above xyz RPM or something?

You can go to my car domian site...http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2496232
It is about a year out date, but you can see the technology, write ups, old dyno, old drag video from year before last.....I'll be at VIR May 30th, 31st if you want to come down from CT to check it out.
Very thorough write up, excellent work, and beautiful car! I now see why you baby it, as well as why your not in a rush to drop in the Dana rearend, w/T56 tranny (both are examples), cuz that's quite the looker! I wouldn't rush either....

There isn't a kit.... Ordered the bracket assy for a V2 and cut it for a one inch relocation. Ordered the head unit seperate (V7-Ysi) and fabricated all the tubing. Ordered the six core intercooler from Spearco and used a Vortech 90 deg elbow kit to finish it off. The blow-off valve is a TIAL. Most of the hose and clamps are from Turbonetics.
Aqua Mist makes the FIC controller, I fabricated the injectors set up using MSD injector parts. It works on MAP and RPM combined. Pictures of it are on my cardomain site as well.
I think I just wet my pants. Those numbers from a 305 are just incredible. Makes me want to jerk your mighty-mouse motor out and give it a hug. You should name it "Rudy", because I would get the same feeling watching that 305 burn up the track as I would watching Rudy make that sack against Georgia Tech in the movie. Almost makes you want to cry. I just pulled mine in favor of a 350, but I know what I'm going to do with my old 305 block now!
Does anyone know if Z-Daddy is still rolling w/ this ride. I have read this thread several times and am amazed everytime I read it!!! Makes the LB9 folks proud!
He's selling it....

Damn, I remember reading about this thing a few years ago while researching my build. I was happily surprised to see someone else that built a 305. Now I'm utterly speachless to see it throwing out those numbers! That's awesome! I'm hoping to hit around 500rwhp/tq on my build. But that's a few years off. I'll be using the magnuson m122, t56, and beefing up the ole ten bolt. And to top it all off, the Q-jet.
