ebay intercooler and bov kits??? Any one use one?

Well now being jobless for the moment I am tight budgeted for the rest of this build. I have my bov intercooler set up and waste gate to do. Gate is in another post and now need to know about the blowoff valve and intercooler. Running a t-76 on a 383 and need to know if one of those 30x12x3 with 2.5 in and out will be ok for it and if the blow off valves that come with it are any good to use for a short time. Looking for some one to say yeah I ran this and it works ok so far is I can get so lucky. I have read about people using the intercoolers and saying ok but nothing on the bovs. I just cant spend that much for a good one right now and was going to go with out but figured a cheap one was better than none. But not sure on size and if the coolers will support any power or choke off a good set up like I have.maybe one of these.
price is good if I can make it work.

A LOT of guys in the turbo nissan/datsun world run the ebay intercoolers with great results, they're generally shooting for much less power than a boosted smallblock though.

I don't know about the BOV.

Re: ebay intercooler and bov kits??? Any one use one?

I have been running an eBay intercooler & bov for a while now. I bought a spearco intercooler (30x12x3) & the cheapest bov on eBay. Both have been working great. The overall width of the intercooler was a perfect fit, but if I was going to buy another one, it would be a few inches taller to cover the 3-4" vertical gap I have. Otherwise, it seems to be doing its job. Same with the bov. I just welding the flange & bolted it on. I never adjusted it, but I hear the pssshhh when I let off the gas, so it must be working right.

I don't know. Was all set to get it dynoed when the T5 broke. Putting in the T56 now, so hopefully I'll know soon. Guessing 450-500rwhp at 10psi.

cool good enough for me to order one. How big is that turbo? looks big for a small amount of boost. I just got my t-76 ceramic ball bearing in the mail. oh so sweet. cant wait to get this all done now.

Re: ebay intercooler and bov kits??? Any one use one?

The turbo is a remanufactured Garrett. The compressor has a 4” air inlet and 2˝” outlet. The turbine is a T6 1.05a/r and 4” outlet. I got it from eBay for a great price, but I wish I knew more about it.

You're right though, the turbo is big enough to be moving more air. Once I get more things in order (drivetrain, tune, and nerves lol), I'll probably up the boost to see what it can really do. It's definately fun either way. Good luck with your build!

hey, think you could grab a few pictures of the intercooler pipe routing? I am looking at buying one of the ebay kits but am unsure of how many bends I need.

Re: ebay intercooler and bov kits??? Any one use one?

just build a motor that is 500 hp instead of turbo charging...

my motor pushes just shy of 500 and i know i could get so much more out of it.. ALL MOTOR.. no power adders..

just more reliability power ..

Whats the point of this comment? I am glad that you can build a 500hp motor. But that does not help him with his intercooler question.

Re: ebay intercooler and bov kits??? Any one use one?

Had a 400 rwhp combo in it and was tired of getting beat by turbo cars that made 650+rwhp. So enjoy being slow with you 500 na combo. Some wanna go faster than that and trying to get that much n/a will kill driveabilty and gas mileage for daily driving. I also have a 392 stroker in my 94 lt1 car that makes 550rwhp n/a and cant drive it everyday now and the turbo car will go faster and still get 20+ mpg. So enjoy knowing anyone with boost will stomp that 500hp setup. Back to topic. I havent picked up the intercooler yet money is tight right now. I will get you some pics as soon as I do though. The rest of the car is done. All but the cold side and is killing me I am so close to being able to drive it now and dont have the extra to finish it. Maybe next week.
