hey guys. i am wanting to put a single turbo setup on my car and im having trouble with how im going to set it up. i wanted to relocate my battery to the back and put the turbo near there and the inlet to the intercooler through where the battery sat. then run it up through where the air box was and to the intake. i would also do it vise versa. but i dont know if that is the easiest. so i would like to see how other people did the setup. all i know so far is that im going to get a t3/t4 turbo to use. once i get that i will move on with buying the rest of the stuff. im not even sure if there will be enough room to place the turbo there.
I just got everything where I wanted in these pic, but you get the Idea, I have been using all stainless parts and steel. And this photo doesn't have and cleaning done yet or turbo covers. Sorry but Enjoy

nice. how hard was it to install. and are you able to close the hood without having to mod it or replace it with and aftermarket.
thanks for the pictures guys. i was hoping not to eliminate my ac lol. but if i have to i guess i have to. i was wondering if anybody know if i could move my ac compressor to the location that they were in the ls1's. it hot here in the south lol. does anybody have any pictures where they are relocated to the other side of the engine. i saw on a v6 camaro that a guy took the exhaust pipe from the "Y" in the pipe to the turbo. how would that work on the v8. i dont know if this will create much lag for the setup or not. but this would allow me to put the turbo where i want it.
thats awsome! thats the setup im going to use. did that fit perfectly in the engine compartment. did you have to move any componenta around. i actually sent you a pm about you car. i saw it on another site. you wouldnt mind telling me how much this all costed you and what turbo you used would you. i was going to put a t3/t4 turbo on but ive been reading around and it seem that the best might be the t70. any opinions. and what did you do with you coolant overflow? thanks again those pics help a bunch.
Just about done with mine now and have my a/c on it still too. I have many posts on how I did this all and am going to finish putting in the rest of the setup shortly for what I bought as far as pipe kits and intercooler. I copied chris's set up but built my headers instead of fliping over stock vette ones. All I have left is finishing up the wiring that was on the starter. I have to move it to a junction box and tie in the battery that is now in the spare tire well and then hook it to the starter. Also have to finish the change to code 59 and start tuning. Been a long road but have a lot less than you would think in it all. If you have any questions on it pm me.
^ Awesome! Only, please take the wrap off bro. Just got my hands on the '86 Z28 in my sig, came w/wrapped Hooker headers, but it also came with see through flanges....

I'd much rather be stroked first... then blown. Wouldn't you?
wrap has to stay. too much heat from all the turbo pipes. If you keep it dry it will not eat up the headers. Also the pipes are painted and oven cured which should also help with keeping the rust away. A buddy did the same on his mustang and going on 2 years with no rust problems from the wrap.

Where did you run your down pipe?
Chris (TPI383), did that setup ever get a down pipe?
I have plans for a 91mm turbo, probably mounted in the general area as most. I just don't know where the hell I'm going to stick the 5" down pipe at. Oh, and I need a buyer for my procharger stuff first too...hint, hint.
I use to have a Master Power T-70, until I went WOT one day and a Vaccum line came off and got sucked into the turbo. So I decided to upgrade to a S400 with a 4" downpipe. Almost done with mock up, then I will get everything coated.

If it's a street car, you should probably put a real air filter before the turbo to avoid compressor/engine damage. Otherwise your setup looks killer. What are the dimensions of your downpipe?
Not really a street car, BUT sometimes I can't resist to take it out on the street...... The down pipe starts off at the turbo as 4" round then as it starts bending it is also goes to 4" oval.
Its a T76. And yes, the HSR is so good to work with and gives more power than the TPI. The only thing I miss about the TPI is the looks, but every time I have to remove an injector I totally forget about it

Tru... ive had two or 3 TPI set ups in my hand or on parts cars but never got around to swappin em on LOL.... esp after taking the set up off the parts car. (most of the lower manifolds were eroded from coolant anyways)
That turbo looks huge for a t76... Im just getting my HSR megasquirt running. I cant wait to get some boooooosst.
Maybe is the ASME air inlet that makes it look larger. Yes I am still making the TT and everything else just like before. Check: www.bermudezcustomdesigns.com
bbs, I've seen your single setup installed with the AC still in the car... what's the biggest down pipe that you know of that's been installed with that setup?

ok i see it now... lol big horn cool... im glad you are still doing reg business... i was kinda dreading building headers... my welds are ugly

Now that you ask, rtkjadam's is the biggest with the 4" oval that he mentioned earlier, but that is without A/C. I do have a 3 1/2" downpipe with cutout (rtkjadams; you should do the same ). With A/C I never had made one or heard of anyone with more than 3" downpipe. The fiber A/C housing on the firewall really makes things tight down there, a 3" downpipe is about 1/2" away from it on the nearest spot.
83 crossfire ta you asking me about my down pipe set up???? I have it done and a bunch of pics if needed. Still havent fired the car. Have a few little things left and havent had time to get it running but very soon. So dang hot in Fl right now that it makes working in the garage unbearable especially when doing it all week long for a living.(working on cars).
My turbo is a HX50W (W for internal wastegated) with a 64mm inducer and 99mm Major, exhaust outlet is 4 5/8, then funneled down to 3 1/2 untill the cutout (where the cat used to be) the out of the cutout into an American thunder stainless cat-back.

turboedtpi: are you running code59... if so I think the rest of use could use a look at your bin, just for reference, since you have been dealing with your a little longer then a few of us.

I'd love to see any pics you have (for that matter, the routing that anyone used to get a good size pipe out of the engine bay)...
LOL I agree... well the whole sig pic is inaccurate now for 2 yrs, nothing about the turbo at all.... lol

BBS, are you dribbling water into your turbo? If so, ever notice any erosion?
And fun Pain, nitro is not the same as nitrous.
No, are you talking about the tubing pointing towards the inlet of the turbo? If that so, well that is for the gases of the valve covers, but I removed it because some gases would always escape and I ended up smelling them and it tend to leave a trace of oil in my beautifull turbo's intake
