305 TBI w/ Turbo....pondering stage.

Now from doing a search I've fond this...frowned upon or not the easiest thing. BUT just for the sake of conversation. Could one turbo charge a 305 TBI and not completely break the bank. We'll say with a budget of about $5000.

Well, I'm looking at about $4000 plus cost of tubing for mine. I'm guessing you could take off at least a couple thousand from that just because you probably don't intend on using a 91mm turbo and a w/a intercooler like me.

Re: 305 TBI w/ Turbo....pondering stage.

I put a turbo on my 1992 formula and with buying afr eliminator heads I have less than 4000 in my set up. Built the headers myself out of a set of 150 headmans, 950 for a t-76 turbonetics bb turbo used. intercooler 100 used, pipe kit 150 ebay, waste gate 100 ebay, 42 lbs inj 100 ebay, msd in line pump 80, battery in trunk 75, and that was most of the cost other than 1500 for afrs that lowered my compression to 9.1. But like I said did all work myself and built all the hot and cold side. I have tons of pics if needed.

Re: 305 TBI w/ Turbo....pondering stage.

In the future I'd love to. I don't even have a car yet, I'm just pondering the future so I have a plan for what I wanna do and I have a goal to go to. It turns out I might being going for TPI, which I'm guessing make a HUGE difference in the turbo set up.... I just have a love for turbos

yeah go with tpi. too many restrictions with tbi one being the small tbi unit and not many good intakes to choose from. with tpi you can go hsr in the future and make more power and easy to work on. I can say that was the best thing I did to mine was get rid of the tpi for the hsr set up.
