u and me both . I too posted my turbo SBC build up on another site but didnt get any feedback . i would not let it get u. It seems today that if your not building an LSx no one cares , kinda weird. Nice build, i would suggest u should install a air to air intercooler instead of using meth.

There is a big air to air on the front :P....But with It I am running meth. Mainly bc my compression ratio. I wanna do as much as possible to help.
Yea I decided I was tryin to sell the car in the summer, bc I never thought I would do what I want to do..turbo it. So once the end of summer came I raced the car and was hooked again. Ran consistent 11.79s/80s. Came home and started stripping it for the winter. I still have a long ways to go but I cant wait to fire her up!
Nice fishing pole collection and bbq grille man! build looks good so far, i actually find projects like this more interesting than the lsx builds. little bit of old school little bit of new school.
I wanna do this in my 85 with my vortec set up and blow thru carb. I have a radiator bout that same size for my car...It came from a local circle track shop. This just gave the idea to do the same style setup. I alway liked the idea of mounting the turbo there, just didnt know what to do about the radiator...cuz im cheap and dont wanna buy stuff over again.
Yeah, BWs400 on a vortec 350ci! yeah...With my port work, and matching cam, 750rwhp would probably be right there....

Yea I was originally gonna get a BW S400 but it was sooo big, so i decided T4 THEN this turbo came up on the turbo forums for 330 shipped to me. So said meh I will make room . It is also upgradeable to a 88mm. That will be next year. As well as TF heads and like 18PSI!

Hell yeah buddy! Turn that BOOST UP!!! 18-22psi is the way to go!! If Im gonna go turbo, Im gonna USE IT! I want to make sure that I AT LEAST DOUBLE my N/A RWHP.
I started putting the dash harness in what a pain...hopefully if we get another couple nice days I will get most of the interior back in.
I picked up a Snow Performance Meth kit with the Maf variable controller and 2 nozzles a Wablro GS340 (2nd one) since they were on sale and an AEM wideband
I also did my LS1 brake swap. I should have taken a pic before With the rotors off so you could tell what I had to modify.
Fairly easy swap none the less, and should stop WAY better and looses 10lbs off the front end!
Well i was working on the interior and whatnot and i got rained out so did a small bit of welding.
I also got the engine harness in the car.
I got the 90* for #7 tacked in and the transistion from 1 5/8s to 2 1/2inch done. IM gonna bring the pipe to work and drill the holes for the rest of the primaries.
I still need to grind the weld and make sure its all good.
jus got my s475 in the mail from paradise racing.....that thing is huge...im gonna move my rad like you did and mount it infront of the water pump....still tryin to figure out how to mount the turbo there solid so its 49 lbs doesnt sit on my crossover pipes and crack them any pics of how you did it....
and is that a t6 flage merge...what size pipe is that...i was gonna use 3 inch crossovers and merge them jus like you did....any help would be great....and that thing is gonna be an animal hope you ready...

I am either mounting it solid and putting flex pipes in OR i am gonna try to brace it to the engine. Not sure which route yet. My merge now sits on top of the rad cradle at the bottom and the turbo on top.
I used 2 2.5 inch pipes it works out exact! so if ur using 3 inch i would say buy 1 2.5inch U bend then cut it in half then weld on some reducers that are 2.5-3inch.
Well I was stuck at work till 5am and came home to weld my header...
It turned out okay gonna need alot of grinding etc but it should work!
I was having issues laying a nice bead bc my damn 200 dollar welders wheels for the wire feed stick constantley. I am really thinking about trading her in and upgrading to a lincoln 140 or something.
Anyways here is the drivers side without and grinding and cleaning.
I also welded a bead inside the flange.

sadly no its been -14*C here for the past 2 weeks . I am gonna get the interior done and meth kit in. I decided I am gonna make 1/2inch thick header flanges and make new headers just to be safe. I have the new welder so why not.
Well i got some more stuff done today, All my gauges are rewired and hooked up, I put all the seats in and I got part of the crossover welded. I am awaiting my flew pipes and to build my new flanges at work this week.
I Need to order a few more parts but need to wait about a week, since I am heading to cuba in a week I dont want parts showing up when I am not home then getting sent back.
Jay
Almost there tho, now with the interior in I am getting the itch!
Well I decided the flanges I got in my kit are **** and I dont wanna finally get the car running and run into issues with not sealing the headers.
So I ordered some 3/8 cold-rolled steel from work (18 bucks for both) and last night I was super bored so decided to cut them on a machine we had open.
I just test fit them and relised that I should have moved the bolt holes a bit lower then the ones I bought. So i am gonna take them back to work and slot them down so I cam move the header up and down. ( I made them only .020clearence anyways so it wont matter much.
I didnt clean them up yet so they still have layout blue and burrs on them.
Great looking project you have, are you thinking about having the exhaust ceramic coated.....
no plans on coating for this kit...it is my first build and first time really mig welding. This kit will prob just be for this season. I plan on building a stainless kit with tubular headers when I have more money.
I'm in envy though..Been wanting a turbo car every since I was a scared passenger in my friend's father 86 GN. The first time I felt it peel the gator backs at 35, I was in love.. Better than sex with the prom gueen...You have my gears turning, keep us posted....
Did not realize that LT1 had that kind of hood clearence....

Well I finished off my Dual 255 pump setup, ready to drop it in the tank and start running some lines!
From factory this is how it was feed.
3/8- Feed
3/8 -Vent
5/16-Return
5/16-Evap
I modified it like this.
3/8-Feed (kept)
3/8-Vent (turned this into the second pump Feed)
5/16-Return- I turned into a Vent ( i cut off the return section in the tank as mentioned below.
5/16-EVAP-Drilled this out for room for a 3/8 return
I also had to cut the stock 5/16 return in the tank and take out about a 1 inch gap so I could use this a my vent. So after cutting this off the entire assembly way very flimsy so I welded 2 supports to the feed tube.
Thanks! I actually bought a magazine bc ur car was in it..I love it!
Jay
Well thanks man. Hope everything is going smoothly on your project. Its looking great.
Tim

Went to a truck place my buddy works at and got my V-band for the turbo DP, and while I was there decided to run 4inch DP necked to 3.5 around 18inches downstream! So he also got me a 4inch 45* and a 4-3.5 reducer, all for cheaper then the V-band would have cost me in the states at NAPA.
So tonight on break at work I am gonna get all my DP stuff ready and weld it tomorrow! Also maybe make a braket to mount the turbo to the accesorry bracket!
Jay
DP stuff
Fuel lines
Passenger header started
Well got a bunch of **** today....
Only waiting on my 4 inch K&N and my header wrap!
All my 3 inch cold piping, 2 1600CFM fans, 3.5 V-band, 2.5 V-band, o2 bung etc.
Also picked up some 3.5inch Tbolt clamps for the stock elbow!
Should be done this week!
wooooo!!! man you have got me so excited for my turbo build this summer! how/where are you running your down pipe?
Ill post pics when its done, but it will be 4inch necked to 3.5inche and it will go between the wonder bar and the steering linkage and ovalize under the K memeber.
