91 firebird 3.1L V6....more hp and acceleration?

Ok, I have a 91 firebird with a stock 3.1L V6 and want to add more hp and acceleration to the car. Please tell me what parts to purchase to do that. I am learning more and more about mechanics, but would like some help.

Try and find yourself a buick 3.8L motor and swap that in there, you can find one in a gnx or a tta if your lucky enuff to find one

If your not mechanically skilled, you can upgrade the exhaust(headers, catback exhaust, and hi flow cats)
Also upgrade your air intake as well as try and get rid of all the smog crap(find yourself a local inspector so you'll pass )

As for that if your mechanically skilled upgrading your rear end is a good move, also look into stronger cooling upgrades, whether its a better fan setup or run a cold air intake, a cool engine is a happy engine

Not much point in modding a 3.1L. Forced induction is a path that would be good if you have fabrication skills, or no someone that can assist with that. You can get good gains through a turbo.

Aside from that, engine swaps are the most cost effective. If you want to stay V6 many people are doing the 3.4L and 3.8L swaps. Or swapping in the turbo 3.8L out of a Buick GN.

You should also consider a Lt1 swap, or even better a LSx based swap. There are 5.3L L99's going for $300 on ebay, and when you add up the rest of the parts for the swap you'll spend about $1000 to $1500 total for a stock engine that makes well over 300hp. Good for 12's and 13's no problem in the lighter thirdgens.
