Whelp, it works (for those of you following my turbo build)

Yup, after a horrible vacation of wondering why the hell the car wouldn't work, we went back to the basics. We took off the hose connection on the bowl vents because the car kept stalling out ( guess it only works for some =/ ). After that we were able to get the car running but it still didn't respond right. After all that we took the fuel filter off the carb to see if it was acting as a restrictor, and gave it a by ear tune, the narrow band was reading the last yellow of stochiometric right before being rich.

Since starting it sounded a hell of a lot better, a lot less sluggish too. Drove it down the block, brought it up to about 3000rpms and let off the gas and the tires chirped so I had a good feeling after that. Swung around and headed up the other block and mashed it, and wow the tires wouldnt stop spinning, second gear shift chirped and spun, third gear sqeauled and spun, I have a feeling I'm gonna have to get slicks or something.

At least I'm on the right track now, I gotta order a wideband and get the tuning narrowed down even better because there was a tiny hesitation ( 1/10 a second ) between the N/A to BOOST transition, but in the end it turns out that just simply turning the screws in about 3 turns from what they were, and adjusting the timing a tad bit might have actually done it. The idle seemed to get better and the engine ran better with each turn in plus finally the AFR gauge finally started to come out of RICH.

All I can say is I appreciate all the advice you guys gave me, I mean I can't narrow it down to exactly what did it, but I'm sure it was a combination of the Boost Timing Mock Up, the Fuel Pump Mock Up, and the Ignition System. I can't wait to take it to the track now!

Thanks again,

Jim

That is good to hear that it is running good now. Keep an eye on it and don't go too lean. The fix was probably a combination of fuel and timing. Boost setups are sensitive to this.
Good job. Have fun at the track. Bring a helmet.......you will need it for the ET you should be pulling.

I just noticed the fuel bowls are completely topped out, guess thats because the fuel is able to flow a hell of a lot better now, I'm gonna have to lower them again, boy is that a pain in the a**. To think, I was just about to spend $3000 on a fuel injection setup lol

I'm glad to hear that the turbo header setup is holding up so far. I'm still considering buying a set from ssautochrome on another 3rd gen project that I recently picked up, just to mess around with on the street, and cap it at 15-psi. Lemme know when you get the engine done, as I'd like to meet up one night to see the setup in person. We're always by e-town on Wednesday an Friday nights, so if you can get her down before the season ends that would be cool. By the way, did you go with cometic head gaskets this time around....?
