Car: 1988 Camaro Engine: 355 Transmission: TH350 Axle/Gears: stock | Choosing a blower setup Okay, I've got a 383 stroker that I've decided to drop into my 88 Camaro. It's fresh, but I want to do everything all at once while it's all still out because my space (and time) is limited to work on the car continuously. I've narrowed things down to either an 8-71 or 6-71. I've done an incredible amount of research that is pointing me towards the 8-71 for load/heat reasons, but I am concerned about the general effective RPM range of an 8-71 and how useful it will be on the street. I've read the Weiand blower guide/references, but I still would like to understand if the difference of an 8-71 underdriven vs 6-71 overdriven would prove to be beneficial?
- pistons and shelf cams. What have you guys had success with, and would running less than a 8:1 overall compression run a high probability of starting issues? I plan on running this on 93 Octane. I think I found what I'm looking for with these, but I can't remember what size my heads are, so I'll need to look back on that for reference first.
Any information is helpful, I'm just trying to better understand all of this as this is my first time around with a roots blower, and I have many things to learn. Also - from personal experience with you guys.. what's the average going rate of a used blower complete with all the linkage, carbs, etc? $2,500? I've been scouting for a decent used one, but alot of these guys are asking what they paid for these things brand new. | | |
