After a long build, i finally started it up last night. If i can get the charging system working, i may be able to take it for a ride in a couple days!

Everything looks nice and shiny .. except those valve covers. Do you have any better pics in front of the engine so I can see the turbos and the rest of the compressor outlet tubing? Can you post the specs of the engine & turbo components?

Re: 89 TT T/A Finally Running!

lol! i did buy some fabricated aluminum valve covers, i need to weld some -10 bungs on them so i havnt put them on yet... i can get some picks of the front of the engine. although when its all put together, its hard to see everthing in pictures.

this thing has been in the works for 3 1/2 years, since i dont have a unlimited budget and i like the nice stuff, i just had to do all the work myself and do this over a long period of time.

here are some of my specs, i will list the high points
400ci small block,
dart little m
afr 190's
je pistons 7.5ish cr with my 74cc heads
scat 4340 crank
scat h beam rods
cam motion turbo cam
fast xfi
precision sc60r turbos, .84ar ?? on the turbine.
precision 750hp intercooler
tial 38mm wastegates, and 50mm?? bov.
tpis intake

Re: 89 TT T/A Finally Running!

Been driving the car. put on 110 miles today. only running on the wastegate spring. boost guage only shows 5 psi .. its faster than when i had a n/a 383 that was 350hp to the tires.

I have to fix the brakes before i crank up the boost. I went with a ed quay manual brake conversion. strange 1-1/8 master cylinder, pedal modification, 1le front and rear brakes, dont like the brakes at all. I have to push real hard, and it still dosnt stop as fast as power brakes. Not sure what to do. Suggestions?

here are some more pics of the car. I try to keep the car looking stock.

How about a hydraboost?

I put one on my car its very easy and gives you allot of room. I didn't buy one of those expensive kits I used a 94 astro van HB the same thing the expensive kits use.

Picture is kinda crappy but you can see how my headers run tight on that side. Now with my HB I have plenty of room, no more huge booster in the way.

Very nice car. I like the sleeper look. Very similar to mine.

Re: 89 TT T/A Finally Running!

I use a FAST XFI. i have used the factory ecu's 165's, 7730's, i even have a few 749's that i never used... i could just never get the hang of the factory tuning, so i spent the money on the xfi. Which for me, was money well spent. no more tuning headaches.. well maybe a couple... but that has to do with idle and 95lb injectors..
