Anyone use a Banks twin turbo kit?

Banks makes a cool twin turbo setup for a sb. No inter cooler but o well not near as much pipping either. There is no pricing on there web site so I don't know what they cost.

Re: Anyone use a Banks twin turbo kit?

I remember at one time looking at the Banks TT kit. It's actually the whole engine with the turbos and I believe is priced close to 9-10 grand. Which for a TT crate motor is not bad.

Be wary... Everything about that listing makes it look like it's a fly by night importer of cloned in China performance parts. The Chinese will reverse engineer virtually anything and find ways to cut corners and save costs. But since they don't actually research and develop anything on their own, they really have no clue what they're doing. The end result is dirt cheap products that are in a worst case scenario dangerous, and in a best case scenario, just cheap knock offs.

Banks kit is similar to what I built but i have a better manifold/header design I think. Banks uses a log which is good but has limitations while mine is hybrid of a header and a log.

That kit will put the turbos through the hood of the car so either have to leave them out or try to make custom covers

Re: Anyone use a Banks twin turbo kit?

I love your setup man great job!!!!!!!!!!! Like where you put the inter cooler. looks nice. I was thinking of doing a hood like that heat exchange one that is posted on here and that should cover the turbos don't ya think? Mine has a carb and I don't wanna put in a inter cooler. I like the Banks plenum. I cant find any good plenums. turbotronics has one but I don't care for it and its also only 1 input. I also found a K&N one that will work but I would like to use the banks one.

wont these put the turbos lower? and how do you think they will work?

Here is the hood. The vents could be used for intake like ram air twin turbo lol.

if I move the heat exchange part up it should work. It would come down right behind the carb.

Where your front vents are on the hood you may beable to mount turbos in front of the motor so they breath thru the vents depending on accessories you use. I have been thinking of this, and would try to do it if I had a TA.

I think with small T4's like i got, i can do it, but depends on how I run the down pipes. I think it would fit under the hood with a setup like that.

I am gonna start the project next week (TAX TIME WHOOO) lol. I could run pipes right up to the vents. I could build a box in the hood for air cleaners. It kinda looks like the turbos are gonna be sitting under the vents any way.
I am still hunting for turbos. Gotta find some junkyard ones.

Re: Anyone use a Banks twin turbo kit?

driver side may be a problem since it will be very close to steering shaft and run right out in front of the power steering unit. Got to be careful where you run the power steering lines

That and the exhaust. They set so low and with the way the turbo is gonna set on there its gonna be hard to get the exhaust in. On the drivers side it looks like the exhaust would be going right into the power steering pump. I found another set that are more like the ones that you built. With as wide as that cowl is on that hood it still should cover the turbos and they would be allot easer to get the everything plumbed and hooked up. I don't plan on going with any huge turbos or anything like that.
