Making my AIR pump into a supercharger...

Car: 91 Camaro Vert
Engine: 02 LS1, HX40
Transmission: 2002 LS1 M6
ok, well first to build any kind of pressure, we have to seal off all outside air from the motor, so it gets all its air from the pump.
now the pump is small, and moves only a tiny bit of air.
so it chokes the engine. alot.
theres a reason real superchargers are BIG. engines use ALOT of air.
early buicks came with smog pumps more then twice the size of ours. spinning them alot faster then stock lets you push out just enough air to see about 2-4 PSI on a 3.5hp briggs and stratton gokart motor.
just for refrence.

I always wanted to try that..
On my lawnmower, and even there it might take 2 pumps to match the air flow of a 5hp brgs. But man would I cut grass.

take a 12v tire inflator air compressor.
block off the end of the hose.
run it.
OOOH! over 60PSI?! why that'll drive the motor.
WORNG. we know it wont. it doesnt even move enough air to inflate the tire quickly.
theres VOLUME and pressure. the pump may be able to produce the pressure, but its not moving enough volume to help the motor.
ah well...
on the bright side, most of the people who think up this crap arnt ambitous enough to do it... athough, it is pretty funny when they try:

well lets see.
first, a fan of that type is INCAPABLE of making boost. even when deadheading.
second, thoes fans flow less air then the engine draws.
third, because the engine draws more air past them then the fans turn, the fans are spun WAAAY over speed. eventually the fins break off where they are sucked into the motor.
so no. it doesnt work well.
its the perfect example of another BAD IDEA.

A guy I went to school with successfully had a electric leaf blower acting as a supercharger but it was on a little 4cly car but he said the leaf blower could blow air up to 50mph I thought it was BS until I seen it and road in it and it was a noticable differance

We attached one of these to a friend's son's
go-cart engine (Briggs & Stratton) and the power increase
was very impressive,-- the kid decided he'd like even more
power, and changed to a larger primary pulley. I'm not sure
if it was the extra compression or detonation, but it
didn't run very long after that before the complete cylinder
assembly separated and exploded off the engine block (no
kidding!),-- kind of reminded me of pictures I've seen of
Blown(up) top fuel drag engines.
