Quick Q, though... What Thermostat housing is that? I also have an HSR w/58mm and I have been looking for a swivel type housing that will fit under the TB. All the ones i have found are too tall and run into the IAC housing. My IC tubing runs directly in front of the stock stat housing outlet forcing me to angle towards the passenger side instead of the drivers side. TIA!

The house is a CSR piece. But a shaved a ton of material off the backside to get it to clear the iac housing. I shaved material off my HSR to make it clear the stock hood and shorten the runners so i have alot less room from the thermo housin to iac housing than you would normally have. The csr piece should work fine for you and if not just shave it, there is tons of material u can remove safely.

Very clean. This is one of the nicest jobs that I have ever seen. Lot of forethought and even more skill shows in this project.

Comfirmed tuning dates are now set for the 25 and 26 of this month. Will post numbers soon as there out.
On another note ive be doin some minor street tuning to shake out the bugs before the big day. U butt dyno says shes got got ***** lol. roll on to about 5psi at half throttle in third gear and it looks it someone hung two black paint brushes off the back bumper.

Re: Twin turbo progress pics

So quick update. The car dynoed thursday friday along with a T trimed 421 camaro and badass Grand National. Thought the car was ready but of coarse if your gonna have problems, your gonna have them at the worst possible time. Anyways first day was shot after the plug wires caught fire and roasted some wiring. Over half of friday was wasted casing a possable fuel issue which turned out to be a spark issue. And once all that was figured out the and the car was again running on all cylinders we cased a boost issue for the rest of the day which still remains to to be sorted out. The problem is we would set boost at 20psi and it would boost to 5psi immediatly and then creep in to 14/15psi max over the rpm band. The boost controller wasnt working correctly and i believe the wastegate springs are too small for the boost we were trying to achive so were gonna give this another try to after i up the WG springs. At 15psi the mustang dyno is telling me were putting out 630 to the wheels but im not gonna concern myself with the numbers untill the problems are sorted out.
Also anyone ever used a mustang dyno. Owner of the grnd national told me he talked to a few people who said they call it the soulcrusher cause the tend to read low. Just wondering if anyone knew if there was some truth to this.

Re: Twin turbo progress pics

Awesome buildup man! I'll be keeping an eye on this one!

As for Mustang Dynos...yes, the general consensus is that they do read lower than DynoJets and such. However, IMHO, they are more repeatable, and, since they are a loading dyno, much more useful for fine tuning drivability. Most people say they read about 30 HP "low", but the difference may be larger at your HP levels

I see, thanks for the info. Either way, who is to say if the mustangs are reading low or the others are reading high.

Very true The most important thing is that you pick your dyno and stick with it throughout your tuning. That way when you make changes you can see whether you gain or lose power. "Dyno racing" is a somewhat pointless waste of time

Re: Twin turbo progress pics

So the boost issue is fixed. Problem was just lack of spring pressure in the gates. Car spools perfect now. Will have final numbers soon.

Re: Twin turbo progress pics

Hey guys, update on the car is i had her back on the rollers for the second time and she put down 788@ 19psi. Ended up battling and few more issues and running outta time but im happy thus far and ill be bringing her back for the 20+ psi tuning. I had dyno video which i was gonna post but it got recorded over accidentaly. I do have some street video, so here you go. The last vid is a 4th gear roll on throttle and an accidental lane change at about 130km. Sorry for the shoty camera work but i dont blame him for wanting to grab the cage at that point lol. 1st through 4th are useless without the traction control setup.
Enjoy!!!

:O thats a very clean car. I didnt think the rest of it would be that clean

Looks scary, and it doesnt look like you were gassing it much. Prolly not a bad idea to get some track time with it to 'really' practice driving....

Very very nice.

Plus... I know someone will ask down the line, so ill go ahead and ask now anyway. Size, dimensions and make of wheels and tires? Those look amazing on the car!

Yes im running the FAST XFI w/ traction control and the intercooler dimensions are 30/12/3.5

Tire sizes are 19by10.5 rear and 19by9.5 fronts. Backspacing was measured wrong so im running a 1/4spacers all around to make them work

Thanks for all the compliments again guys its been a few years in the making but shes almost done.

Thank you, TA88GTA! What kind of mods did it take to get it to fit? (Other than lowering the radiator) Love the car!

Well other than cutting all of the lower rad support out and lowering the rad, we trimmed the upper rad support which you can see in the first vid and welded the mounting tabs to the sides of the IC. Really didnt take much work. We installed threaded inserts right in the frame rails so the mounting plates sit flat on the bottom side of the rails and are bolted right to them.

how is your quest going for fresh air? I know you wanted to cut up the front a bit and feed it some air.

Actually pretty good, we fabbed up an aluminum air scoupe that catches and diverts air to the IC and rad seperatly. It been workin pretty well but hangs a little low so were gonna fab a new one that doesnt scrape driveways as much.

No problems at all. Im running a restricter plate instead of a thermostat, after havin a stat stick closed on me. Car runs at about 180 max. The scoupe is mounted inside the nose and just presses up against the IC and rad. Trimmed the bumper support to fit it.

Well yes and no, the scoupe is one piece but has a diverter or air dam fro each cooler. Ill take a picture its easier for you to see than for me to explain.

67NOVA- sorry but you wont be able to find these headers anywhere but on my car, they were custom built.

Thank you.

and for the guys waiting for photos of the air diverter, you'll have to wait a little longer. I was making a few 180+mph pulls and the tack welds on the aluminum came unglued. guess the aluminum was a little to thin and tore around most of the welds. Lucky it didn't damage anything else. But ill have pics of the new one soon as its done.

Hey man, well done. I didnt mean to doubt you earlier but you put all the real doubters to rest. Awesome job, you obviously know what your are doing and what you wanted.

I only hope my single setup will measure up in some way. Again, Nice job!

Re: Twin turbo progress pics

Havent read this thread in a while. Great build, I am hoping my setup turns out somewhat as nice as yours You've done very well with this build, I am impressed.

Turbo engines are all low compression #s. The pressure of 20+ lb of boost is where the HP comes from. Start with 11 to 1 & 2-+ lbs of boost, & say goodbye to your heads. Doubtful it would even start.
what i meant was he made over 500 hp naturally aspirated before the turbos were on. Thats with 8 to 1 compression. I find that amazing because my 383 was over 11 to 1 built for power with a fair sized cam and i made around same 500hp. 8 to 1 should give up 15% in power or so. Or more. Thats an incredible n/a 383 to make that power at 8 to 1

Re: Twin turbo progress pics

get it down the track yet? just curious what it would run at that power level. I am not running close to that much boost and close to those numbers with a single turbo setup and 383. What is the rest of the motor? heads cam compression so on. My car seems to be a freak of nature for how fast it is on 6 lbs I have played with 10 lbs on the street not the track yet and am going above and beyond my 42 lbs injectors and cant get the afr right so have to keep it at 6 lbs. even at a 13 to 1 lean on 10 lbs feels like 100 more hp though. cant wait to start playing with 12 to 15 lbs on it but need more fuel first. What injectors your running and rest of fuel system. I am sure I will hit similar power levels and looking to see what i might need . I might be making more than I think as the car is heavy and fast. Right now dont want to put it on the dyno afraid to blow up hte rear as on the street or track it spins alot and think that is saving the rear end. on the dyno and not spinning might kill it. If you can go down all your combo that would be great. thanks.

Re: Twin turbo progress pics

i didnt think 42lb injectors could do over 500whp? most guys run 60's for 600-700whp. My buddy maxed out (100% cycle duty) 60's at lsx pressure (makes them like 72lbs) at 708whp.

Hello,
I would love to see that car in person! I will be in Vancouver, WA in July this year! I know you live in Vancouver, B,C, Canada would it be possible to see your car?

I live in Carrollton, TX which is a suburb of Dallas, TX. I will be a long way from home! And would love to take a look!

I am in the process of building my twin turbo 92 Z28.......
