Turbo on a 355
Got a question for everyone. I am taking a small block 355 and putting a t76 on it. I know the internals aren't stock. Nothing to write hone about but just wondering how much boost a stock 355 can hold safely...
Any help is appreciated

Re: Turbo on a 355
tune it good and u can push that turbo to the max before u have to work about the engine
one word of advice tq the main caps and extra 5ftlbs and tq the heads to 85ftlbs and use a standard rebuilders head gasket , the composite engine tech ones work great

Re: Turbo on a 355
Trust me I've researched the heck out of what guys are running and it's all over the map as to what people consider safe on a relatively stock sbc. I have hardly ever seen anyone that has destroyed one from sheer hp stresses. It's almost always due to over revving or leaning out or something accidental like that. I'm scared to go over 10 psi with mine, even though I don't really have a reason to be. Search "the grenade" on theturboforums.com. Interesting and long read.

Its all in the tune. Look at how many STOCK LS guys are running 20-25+psi with just gapped rings. Then you see even more guys blowing them up with 10psi. With all of the gas choices we have available now you don't need to worry about having a 7:1 dog *** motor to run a turbo/sc.

yup even with those big *** dished pistons in my motor above my compression is just shy of 9.5-1 , still smacking it with 20+ psi of boost on pump gas
