What gives? Don't tell me in a country where approximatly 95% of Americans, believe in God, the WORD God is forbidden on this Board?

First, for the past several years, it was a filtered word largely due to abuse. However, understand that politics and religion have often been a source of conflict, and because ThirdGen.org is a tech-only website, we steer clear of those topics. As well, it's clearly stated in the rules. That's not going to change anytime soon to my knowledge. Not everyone may fully agree with each and every rule that each community has, but when you are a guest in someone's home, you have to play by their rules regardless of your own beliefs and preferences.

As far as your signature, I looked through the logs for the past 3 months and I could not find any staff member even looking, let alone changing, your account through the control panel. I'm guessing if this was changed, it was done so long ago.

Unbelievable! You state one must obide by community rules, as a reason for NOT allowing a referance to God! The "community" in America, by approx. 95% believe in God. What community are YOU refering to?

U.S Supreme Court has ruled the word "God" is not political in nature. I read the forum rules and it prohibits speaking of one's "religious preferance". I did not mention a religion. Again many people who don't believe in religion, acknowledge a God. They are not necessarily the same thing.

Why don't you just state in the rules, "any reference to a God is forbidden"?

Yes, it must have been changed a long time ago, so what? I don't visit here often. By the way, I am on LOTs of car forums and NOT ONE prohibits a reference to a supreme being.

I request you reconsider and change the *** in my signature to God.

If your reason is abuse then I agree wholeheartedly. But if it's because it could be a source of conflict then I've got to agree with Mikeceli. By avoiding the word you steer right into it. And the word is not a catalyst for dissention, it's still printed on our money. Anyway, back to third gens.......

i myself am athiest and will say that wether your signature says god or *** doent matter much to me, its gennerally not offensive i think you should be able to have it in your sig....i might not belive in organized religion but i do believe in peoples rights to it. and the whole 1st amendment thing....y censor? i swear this site is so flucked up sometimes, not kicking people that cheat others, deleteing some really dumb words like R I C E....WTF? and i bet some administrator will come on here and say dont criticize the site or something along those lines....i think it makes them feel like important people......haha i bet i get in trouble for that, o well the world wont end....

As I stated above, it has been a filtered word for several years (until recently) due to abuse of the word/term. However, your "outrage" over being filtered is exactly why such subjects aren't allowed on this forum and haven't been for years. For some reason, just about anything in regard to religion and political statements/opinions/beliefs quickly turn heated. The bottom line is, "we" (staff) set the rules and enforce them to what we believe is best for this website. Not every single member may agree or like it, but you cannot please everyone. Our goal is to provide a technical resource for the 1982-1992 Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird - which is what we do.

Each website/forum, like each household, has their own set of rules that can (and often do) differ. Since we're talking about ThirdGen.org, that's all that is really important.

We are currently reviewing this and will probably have a conclusion, soon.

This website is owned by a company, in a sense, it's "private".

Perhaps you should "get in trouble" as it appears you must be familiar with our rules to know that criticizing the staff and policies are specifically listed.

Since it appears this thread is being used inappropriately, and against our posted rules, it's getting locked.

I'll end this thread by restating that we are in fact discussing this issue between the staff as I presented it. I can understand some of the points made. However, you also have to realize that this website (like each household) has it's own set of rules/guidelines, and they are to be followed. The rules and guidelines are in place because the staff feels it's overall best for this website.
