Please make sure to read the Announcements. I posted the above Announcement this morning/afternoon to let all know we are aware of the issue, that it did exist, and that it's being reviewed and addressed.

All I can say at this time is the issue is known and is being worked on. The issue came on suddenly and is not related to any past or known existing issues.

Just to let you know, this issue is affecting literally dozens of other websites that are owned by the same company. Each of those websites are communities like ThirdGen. To me, it would stand to reason that the longer this issue goes, the longer the communities are down and thus revenue. So you can see it's in the interest to have the issue resolved, and as quickly as humanly possible, for both users and the website.

That's funny, it's been working fine for me.

Try using Google Chrome, or Internet Explorer 8 if you have either.

Re: TGO has been buggy n slow

It's not the user's end or equipment so changing browsers or other suggestions won't work. The issue is on "our end". It also has been intermittently coming and going.

Yes it is, funny as after my 2nd post, all was well for a while, just as I come to check back, there it goes again

So am I right to guess its the usual DOS attack stuff???

As a board runner myself I think we as in all board runner, need some type of universal IP block list but having such a list validated might be a bit rough. Making sure someones not entering a IP of a site/person they just don't like.

As some reason big major hosting places know who it is, but don't block.

Myself I block IPs all the time, and eniter blocks which at times.
Recentaly 90% are from russia.
But if I can see who's causing trouble there is no reason my host ormy host, host couldn't block before I can. [ I use hostgator which resells theplanet]

Though I do have a good error page up where folks caught up in it by accident can know why and how to contact us to get around it.

Though yahoo crawl is one PIMA, they come in like bandits at times and I can careless, they get blocked too.

Re: TGO has been buggy n slow

Not speaking of TGO here.

But ddos attacks aren't exactly that easy to defend against. I'm guessing you have not had a real ddos attack as you would probably find your blocking is probably not going to save you If it were that easy, it wouldn't be something that happens as it does - even to large websites that have large resources. What you describe is basic protection by applying filters upstream for abnormal amounts of traffic. But ddos attacks can be smarter than this, and more subtle, and more spread out across so many machines that even data centers can't always help without expensive resources.

Re: TGO has been buggy n slow

It appears to be resolved (hopefully) and a global notice was posted at the top of the forum to explain the issue (attack on the network).

Since this issue is resolved, I'm closing the thread. Hopefully, we can return back to normal operations.

Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for understanding.
