Dude, the wiring is just as important as the paint. Tuning? It's as good as it's gonna get. (How would you know?) I went off on a wild rant, but decided not to post it.

Unless somebody can make up a simple flyer for the summer meet in the next few days, I recommend everybody do a "copy + paste of the first post in the offical "Summer Meet" thread and print a couple copies to hand out to anyone that is interested in doing so!
OR U can just copy this below:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHAT:
The Houston TGO Summer "Meet, Eat, and Compete" Event
WHEN:
Saturday, 18 June 2005
WHERE:
1. First Lady Pavilion/Texas City Dike, Texas City
2. Houston Raceway Park
SCHEDULE:
11:00 AM - Meet at First Lady Pavilion
12:30 PM - The ceremonious "Burning of the Dogs"
2:30 PM - cruise en masse to Houston Raceway Park. Gates open at 3:00 PM, track opens at 4:00 PM. Test and Tune is $15, $8 to spectate.
I went to the link above--printed a few copies of the map--turned the map over and printed on the back the info above-- and stapled it to the thirden flyer that ZAP89 made up--works out pretty good!

Just for something to do, and to get out of the house for a while, Sue and I got the directions from the info post for the Summer meet and drove down there to check it out.
Nice easy drive--easy to get to the pavillion--right at the mouth of the dike--plenty of room--there's about 18 to 20 marked parking spaces with plenty of room to stack them 2 deep--large covered pavillion is about 20 feet from parking--water is about 50 feet from pavillion, so if U want to do some fishing bring your stuff!--several covered picnic tables as well, but it would be cool if anybody has a small table to bring for food area--restrooms 50 feet away, port-o-potties, they were clean, when we were there at least!-- LARGE bait shop directly across from pavillion, 150 feet away--several other bait shops located on the dike--if U get there early, U may want to cruise out to the end of the dike just for the experiance, about 4 or 5 miles long, U turn and come back to pavillion--there's a sandbar of the west side that goes out in the water more than a quater mile where U can walk out there in water no deeper than your ankles, but that may depend on the tide!--Even though the sun was pretty warm out there, undr the pavillion it was very comfortable, and I'm told there is always a breeze out there on the water, so even though it will be the middle of June, I don't really think it will be uncomfortable! (That's important to some of us OLD guys!)
Then we went by the directions on the map and went up to 146 and made the cruise to the strip. We went as far as 225 and came home (since the rest of the cruise I have done many times going to HRP) Once U get on 146 it pretty easy going, the only slow area is going through Kemah with a few lights-- the rest is usually 4 lane divided highway with a light here and there. Should make for a cool cruise. On a long cruise like this, i know from experiance, we should have somebody with a cell phone at the lead and one bringing up the rear, so we can stay somewhat together as a group.
I personally am looking forward to the Summer Meet-- friends-- crawfish boil --cruise --dragstrip --thirdgens-- babes--ETC.
Craig, thanks for heading out there. I've updated the map with the correct directions to the dike, so we should be good to go. Most likely I'll head out there a little early with my parents to make sure we get the pavilion so that we won't have to worry as much about the heat.

No problem...... we'll justrun everybody off and take over like we have before!
OH Yeah--since the peeps are bringing the pick-up, and I assume the crawfish boil rig, by any chance do they have a little table maybe (or any table)? I've got one of those fold up leg tables like they smash wrestlers into on Pro Wrestling, but it's a big one, and it won't fit in the back of Sue's RS.
Thanks for the invite. I'll hopefully go once I sort out my transmission. Your on Nasa Rd 1. I'm on Egret Bay. Do you goto the meet in League City park on the friday nights?
Originally posted by Red92RS I am working on saturday, so hopefully i will make it out to the track if i get off early enough. sadly i will be driving the cavalier again
You can hopefully count me in guys, but i have no job right now i've been jobless for like 3 weeks now. I'm not sure if my 3rd gen will be running then though. i'm not sure what i can bring cause of the money issue but i can bring some chairs, and wild times and lots of talk.

U are more than welcome.....there's always enough (and usually a bunch leftover) for everybody!

There's a link to Yahoo map in the first post of this thread with detailed info. We are gonna do a "Mass Cruise" to the track. Should be fun. I have been on a couple of longer cruises similar to this years ago.
Won't get the trans to Hughes until Monday. May need some help getting it back in to make the meet. Any volunteers?

Well it was very nice to meet some of you folks and get a good look at some of your cars. I arrived about 11:15 or so and was surprised to find I was first! Thought maybe you all moved the party and decided not to tell me! To those of you who did not attend, and those who showed up late, here is a pic of one of the early visitors. Too bad you missed her!
Been goin' thru some rough times of late, sorry I missed you guys. Haven't been on a computer much lately and just dropped in today to see when the meet was.. turns out it WAS today! Sux to be me at the moment, hope all you guys had a damn good time and roasted a few tires for me!
I'll catch up with everyone next time around, I guess!
i didnt expect much but i guess my car ran pretty good a 14.97 in the quarter mile much much improvement and im so happy very nice pics Owen especially da first ...yeah there was a bunch of hot chicks in that bait shop ...
Hell I was running late and then running down Fairmont my serpintine belt broke after my altenator froze. So get back home, begged a ride from a neighbor.
After replacing the parts, I was going to go with my daughter cuz my old lady was out of town picking up her mom for a visit and guess who shows as I was in reverse !!!!!
So after a little visit my and my daughter take off for HRP. Well after getting there and paying guess what I see ? NO OF YA'LL OF COURSE
So I called Rudy's cell and some guy answered I ask for Rudy he says Rudy's in the pit, I ask the guy where you guys are he says Houston Raceway I ask you sure ? Then we lost connection.
Well me and my daughter hung out therefor about an hour, I forgot to put Craig's number in my cell so we finally went home.
Uh yeah I have my $30 receipt, man I am sorry I missed it, which one of us jinxed the meet ?
So where did you guys go ?
Would just like to say thanks for a great day out. Was nice to meet you all. The weather was great although a bit too hot for my wife.
Did the strip re-open? We left when they closed it down don't know if it was just a break or something wrong. Hope everyone got home ok. We were lucky as it was quite local to us.
I do have some mpeg movie clips of a couple of you going down the track. So if anyone wants them.
Once again thanks for a great day and will see you all next time.
sorry about that Zap89 my buddy had my cell most of the night ....by the time i found out you called i was kinda caught up on charging my battery fixing a hose that blew (my fault) lol .... i didnt get to call you back it.. just wasnt the same without you man
and Alex yeah it rained for like 5 seconds...so they cleaned up the track and it was racing time. took a while but we got to run
14.9 damn thats real good! Glad to hear you got to run I was pretty sure they where going to send everybody home after it started raining a little bit. I was caught in the rain the whole way home and my wipers suck!

We were there--did U get there after it rained? There was 5 I think still there after it rained--we stayed for several hours. At one point I think we were allin the staging lanes hen it atarted raining and stucke there for a while.
Definately enjoyed the new people--Owen (nice car dude)and his son (sorry--forgot his name)--Aldixie and wife--Coz305--let's see seems like there were others--anyway, except for the heat it was a really ccol day (no pun intended).
It was really hot in the stands--cooler by the fence--I guess the aluminum seats reflected the heat--I was glad the rain came through, cause it cooled things off quite a bit.
I'm still trying to figure out why everybodies car's were breaking down the several day before the meet--the day of the meet --and AT THE MEET/STRIP!!!
It's like we were cursed or something
My third pass was personal best:
8.55--1/8th
13.49--1/4
1.81--60'
can't find the time slip--going by memory
By the time I followed Barry all the way home to Katy (alternator shoot craps--but made it home) and then to my house, I was pretty well pooped!
