White hood + red car = clown car IMO. =p but thanks
I wonder if you are the guy she told me asked about the car... hmmm
Yeah, it was me. Have you gone to the SA boards yet? We're trying to setup a BBQ at the end of the month. You should come out, bring the camaro out. Sometimes we'll do a cruise after the BBQ as well.

Yup. Never posted there though. ATM I'm trying to resolve the overheating issue it's having. Has a new water pump, new radiator, new antifreeze/coolant(recently flushed), new thermostat... Only thing i can think is that i neglected to replace the radiator cap. May not be holding enough pressure = water boiling. Come to think of it, i've been hearing a noise from the coolant overflow tank after shutting off the engine..
Provided i get it running reliably, i'd like to bring the camaro out to a BBQ. Even with the sticking valves(i think) it's still fun to drive =P
Do you have the air dam that bolts underneath the car? Without that, the car will overheat. You could probably make it here at HQ(my house) and we can take a look at it before trying to make a run for the BBQ. I'm free all this week until sunday.
The air dam is still in place. I'll have the money to replace the radiator cap today so i'll give that a try. If that doesn't do the trick I'll see if i can meet up with you and figure something out.
I replaced the radiator cap earlier but that didn't do anything.
Thinking it might be a bad sensor/short in the wiring as i didn't hear the fan coming on at all unless i turn on the AC. I'll check that Saturday some time.
As soon as i can find where i left my tools I'm going to check for power at the fan. I just realized that the fan is not coming on at all, for A/C or when the temperature gets too high, so it's likely that fusible link.
Check your fan relay, the GM relays are a pain. They can stick open or closed, tap on it with your hand or tap the relay against the body of the car. Pull it off and look at the connector, if the connector burned up and melted the plastic it can cover one of the terminals.
These have a fusible link coming from the battery with a connector on them.
Also apply power directly to the fan... I dont remember which wires to short at the connector, but if you apply power directly you can rule out a fan motor.
The fan also has a fuse underneath the dash, it will probably be the third or fourth on the top row from the left.
I've never really worked with the electrical system in this car, so not sure where to find my fan relay. Also after 2 hrs of searching my apartment i am still unable to find my damn multimeter so i'll just trace wires i guess
So i found out what's wrong.... Well somewhat. I turned on the a/c with car running, and as i noticed earlier the fan didn't come on. So i hit the top of the radiator/fan housing and it slowwwly started spinning. Bad motor i'm guessing?
Good. You gonna be able to make it out on the 27th? or is it 28th? Which ever, it's the sunday of that weekend. We met up with another one last night at Fuddruckers, seemed pretty cool, knew what he was talking about, also said he knows quite a few people who have thirdgens so hopefully they are just as cool.
Look for a gray firebird with black ram air hood and front bumper, a red camaro with black front end, and a white camaro with a black hood. We try to park together but if your cruising around you can't miss us. We'll be there around 9-10pm.
Your more than welcome to stop by the house. We have a few projects going on. A rearend swap, either today(the 12th) or this weekend it's going to happen...and a motor build. We'll try to get a few cars out here(there are 4 at this house.)
Thanks for the invitation. Sorry I didn't see it in time...for some reason it didn't tell me that anyone had replied to this thread. Oh, well, it ended up being an all work, no play kind of trip anyway.
I've never made it to any of the meets, but I have met a couple of you when you helped me out getting that cooling fan replaced. I'd be interested in a meet, just let me know when and where, and I should be able to work around it! Not that my car is anything special, but hey, it runs!
Hey guys! I'm new since I just bought my first thirdgen a few weeks ago. Since the purchase I had my transmission rebuilt which I'm going through a bad experience with the transmission shop. Any recommendation on a mechanic or reputable shops that now these cars really well? Also, do guys still meet up at Bizbys?
Are you looking for just a stock rebuild on a 700R4? I have a transmission guy that does really good stock rebuilds for a very reasonable price by I-35 and Division.
Friday nights are pretty popular at Biff Buzby's still. We are planning to do another meet or a BBQ pretty soon, a few members have been telling me they are interested in meeting up again.
I had my 700r4 rebuilt and it seemed it was still slipping gears. My car is at the shop right now being done all over again. I just don't trust these guys anymore. Once I get my car back which should be Monday I want to take it to someone to check it was done right. That would be great if you give me information on that guy that does 700r4 rebuilt on I35 and Division.
There is a new meet starting up off of 151 and potranco at the Bigs gas station I will be out there this saturday in my 98. If you come out look for a handful of f-bodys parked together.

I thought people were run off from there. So I've heard. I'm new, at least to owning a camaro.
My dad still goes to meets, one in Castroville and the other at chatmans chicken. I'm considering taking camaro out there, but would rather go somewhere closer by. Do ya'll have get-togethers?
Wanted to invade this thread to let you all know about the statewide gathering we are planning for this summer. Follow the link in my signiture, and we hope to see you all there. If somebody could post about about it on SA3GO, that would be great
