Houston T-56 guys (where do you buy or rebuild urs)
So ya... where do you guy get your T56s from? Know of any junkyards in Houston that see alot of 94+ z28s?
If not, where do you get them rebuilt at?
I have a 94z28 with 190k and I know I'll soon have to put some work to the tranny. The kit has been purchased for the motor, I just need to send the block in. Whenever I get around to pulling the engine.

Check with Owen at ARD--not sure if he does manuals or not--know he does automatics--if he does not, he probably knows where to get one or where to get one fixed.

From I-10 and highway 6, go north past Keith Harrow till you reach Addicks Satsuma. Take a right turn and go about 100 yards down, and you will see the sign and it is located on the left in a business park.
Also, there is a place over off of Telephone rd --can't remember the name at the moment--all they do is standards--and power transfer cases--rearends--ETC--I know they have a big in the yellow pages.
ANYBODY REMEMBER THE NAME OF THAT PLACE?

I rebuilt my own as soon as I bought it. its not too difficult to do yourself with simple tools. might need a press depending on what you plan on doing. if you're just replacing synchros, the most you'll need is a set of snap ring pliers and a 3-jaw puller.
why do you think you'll have to work on the trans?

As far as a rebuild goes, I'll PM you THE place for T56 stuff. Don't know the rules about posting up a link to a non-sponsor. And they are right here in Houston.

lol, that is what I pm'd him because I was unsure if I could link to a non-sponsor. Their old site is www.t56rebuilds.com it will re-direct you to their new site with their new name, 6speedinc or whatever it is.

Thanks everyone for the advice and direction.
TexasLT1, it shifts fine and nothing really wrong with it mechanically.
I just figured since the mileage is high I'd have to do some work to it soon?
Re: Houston T-56 guys (where do you buy or rebuild urs)
exactly what I was going to say. don't fix something that isn't broken. really about the only thing that ever needs servicing is the synchro rings, and if it is still shifting fine, those are fine. you'll know when they need to be replaced when you start grinding gears or having problems getting it in or out of gear. until then, I'd leave it alone.
