Fair enough. If someone will second it, I'll add it to the poll.

Volunteers are always appreciated. We are generally pretty informal about these things, but if you have any suggestions they are welcome.

well maybe a few of the local forum sponsers can bring out some stuff to flaunt

also i think a flyer should be made that everyone can print and hand out to a few third gens they see on the street. it'd get a few non-members to attend and maybe become members.

then find a few coporate sponsers to come out too

Re: Location for next Houston meet

ARD has been pretty good about going to meets in Bear Creek park, but that is right around the corner from their shop. With the price of gas it would probably cost then several hundred dollars to drive more than a couple of cars out to Kemah.

I don't think we HAVE any local forum sponsors.

We used to do a flyer. I don't recall who was creating them for us, I'll do a search and see if I can find an old one.

Corporate sponsors? That sounds cool, but I'm not sure how that would fit in with TGO's advertising rules. I expect that, in order to have sponsors, they would have to either be coordinated through TGO's owners or it would have to be a non-tgo meet (couldn't use their name). In either case, it is a can of worms that I'm not in a hurry to open.

Re: Location for next Houston meet

so i dont care where the meet is, i'll be there wherever it is, but would hooters be a problem in terms of functionality? i know last time ya'll bbq'ed (i couldnt make it was puttin on headers) and i guess just hung out all day? how would that work at hooters? do they care if a group of us just chill all day or what? not trying to put the idea down, just making sure it'll work

also will this be rain or shine?
or should we set a rain date?

Re: Location for next Houston meet

In the past, when we had a rain date no one showed up anyway. Also it was called a rain out on more than one occasion when it turned out to be a sunny day. So I vote for "rain or shine".

I can move up the close date on the poll but right now we only have a half dozen people voting. Not really enough to base a decision on.

Hanging out all day at Hooters probably would be a problem. We would have to meet up there later in the day, have some food and then head out to the show. The other reason I prefer meeting in a park is because it gives us more time to check out each others cars.

Re: Location for next Houston meet

here is what i have so far for the flyer
keep in mind location is only for sake of having it on there
but otherwise let me know if anyone wants to see anything else one there

also do we want a single point of contact? i.e. "for more information call blah blah blah" or "go to www.thirdgen.org for more information"

Maybe hit up Owen to see if he'd like to jump on board? He could be the first

If I'm not busy, maybe I'll come crash the party in my 4th gen

Re: Location for next Houston meet

Looks like Bear Creek with a cruise to Otto's wins with by land slide (4 votes).

I suggest we meet up in Bear Creek about 1 PM, BBQ check things out and head to Otto's about 5:00. That should get us there well before 6, so that we can get some good parking spaces.

Since so few people are posting about this, lets just keep everything on this thread.

I'll bring some dogs, buns and charcoal.

Re: Location for next Houston meet

OK, only 2 days left.

Get your cars washed up and come on out!

I think we should meet near pavilion #1 (like we always do) about 1PM. Then BBQ and hang out until about 5:00.

At 5:00 we can hop on 6, go down to 10 and then take 8 South (Don't forget your $1.50 for the toll). Take 8 to 59 and go South on 59. Take the second exit (Alt 90). Get on the brakes hard and all the way in to the right lane and take the first right (into the shopping center). Go to the stop sign and turn left. Otto's is on the left about 1 block up.
